happens some with males too.. maybe this is totally personal anecdote, but I've noticed that many artists tend to make more variety for their own gender's faces while simplifying the opposite gender to a same-face-template. kinda odd, but i do try harder to make my lady characters all unique!

Ope, sorry pal, I get busy and personal stuff like tutorial series have to go on the back burner for a while. All the text for it is laid out, it just needs illustrations now. I'll try to work on it on the weekends.

This is wonderful! Thank you for making it! I rarely experiment with shapes in this way when I draw people. This tutorial is great inspiration and an awesome tool. It'll definitely come in handy when I need to reference facial features!

That's really helpful! I've looked at all your tutorials and let me tell you it get me a lot of ideas and a bunch of inspiration! But I have TONS of trouble drawing side views and quarter views, like every time I draw a side view of a girl it ends up looking like a guy! The nose I can do pretty well but the ther features ... like trying to teach my cat to bark. Do you have any tips for that? Not for teaching my cat to bark (that's would be weird) but for my art?

Yeah! I'd definitely suggest drawing from reference to get other features down. Even if it's realistic, getting down the same facial shapes from different angles will help you to understand how to stylize them into cartoon format. There are plenty of resources right here on DA too, if you go browse the resources & stock images section and search for "head + profile/front/turn around" there are several models with various angles of their head.

All 3 parts of this tutorial are so helpful! Sometimes when I'm trying to draw a character I get stuck on how to make them look unique. Usually I only have like 2-3 different ideas for shapes for eyes, or noses, etc, but this should provide me with oodles of inspirational reference and ideas, so thanks!
