Thank you very much for the feedback, but I"m afraid I'm going to have to discard most of it.

I don't think I was clear in my description about what I meant by "redoing" my OC. I had no intentions of really altering her design. This is closer to the "draw this again" memes you see on devart. [link] That was the 'first draft' of the character, as done on august 22nd of 2011. THIS deviation right here was done just about 9 months later In that time, many things happened... for one, I made about 80 other 'trotting ponies' and gained a lot more skill. Secondly, many images of Snowdrift were drawn by many different peopel and her visual design changed slightly (as an example, her wings used to be blue on top, and white/gray on the bottom, and now they are simply blue and white).. so, it was well time to 'refresh' my avatar

But, to more directly respond to your feedback, which i DO appreciate <3

Her fur is actually dark gray, not black, though I know it's a bit hard to see in such a small image... but you can look here [link] for her 'official pallet'. Though, yes, she is a pretty dark colored pony--not unlike Princess Luna, or Thunderlane, though!

I don't really consider her mane to be 'dark' either... and suspect it's the fact that I 'outlined' her hair.. pixels can make it very hard to see the 'real' colors.. [link] There's one that shows off her colors pretty well

She is an Alicorn. I can't really argue that one. But she's not a princess. She's not a "normal pony' either though (I hate when people make alicorns who are 'normal every day citizens of ponyville')... Snowy's a pony who's heritage has given her a job for life, basically. Her job is orchestrating winter. It keeps her very busy for most of the year (There's a lot of snowfall to plan for, after all!) and she spends a lot of her time in the north where the weather is a lot more vicious then it is near places like ponyville. That said, she's a happy, friendly pony who loves spending time with her friends because of how little time she gets to spend with them due to her responsibilities. Her job could be done by ANY pony (even an earth pony!)... but as an alicorn, she has the advantage of being able to fly and help move clouds around, and also having 'winter magic' to help (snow creation, 'pushing' several clouds at once, etc)... it means she has a lot more 'hooves on' work on top of the 'adminstrative' and 'organizational' work.
It's also relevant to note, I think, that she isn't immortal. I don't know how long she'll live (to be honest, thinking about the death of any character I love is really depressing to me, so I try not to think about it.. but I can say very easily that she will, one day, grow old and die, like most ponies will) ... she isn't "alicorn sized" but is just about the size of any normal pony. She's a young adult, she probably won't ever grow up to be Celestia sized (Despite the fact that some artists draw her that way) ... I guess the tl;dr of this is - She IS an alicorn, but she's not a goddess, a princess, or all powerful. She's just a pony who's magic is very specifically winter oriented (Snow, ice, cold weather, telekinesis, and not much else.) and is a strong flyer (in part because she 'unconsciously' uses her weather magic to help fly in harsh weather)... but an endurance flier, not speed. She dislikes hot weather, it makes her really really sleepy.

Her horn is... exactly as pointy as Twilight Sparkle's. I lengthen the horns of ALL the unicorn trotters I make because I think the 'standard' horn is too short. I generally try to let the tip of the horn be visible past the hair, anyway.

I actually had to google to see what a "sharp cut" is and I admit, I'm still not sure. In any event, I think this might be an issue of pixels again. The trotting pony you commented on is 100x100 pixels.. blown up from 50x50 like in my icon... that means every side is 50 pixels long... there's not a whole lot of room do 'style' hair in there. That said, I always imagined her hair as being 'unstyled' mostly. it's long, and swooshes off to the side a bit. It never covers her face or eyes in an 'emo' or 'scene' fashion. I don't know. it's hair. If you knew how little it knew about hair, you'd probably giggle at me and my lack of hair knowledge. seriously. It's nice but windblown? I don't even know. Maybe it is a sharp cut. What is that even? ;_;

Anyway, as you can see, I hope, I've given her a lot of thought in the.. year and 3ish months since she was born. She has a lot of personality behind her and put into her. She's not intended to be 'dark and edgy' at all.. infact, the most common expression on her face is a big happy smile. She loves her job, her friends, her family, and the beauty of winter! Of all the mane cast, she's most like Pinkie Pie.

I can't get rid of the wings or the horn, it would change who she is as a character. (her 'job role' defines her heavily. My brother made a OC pony also, and we both made our OC pony's siblings also. That would 'ruin' that as well) ... she's an alicorn because her character idea needed to be an alicorn.
If I change up her color scheme, I would become more unoriginal actually. as a 'snow' themed pony, most 'snow' ponies are 'white and blue' ... her dark colorations make her unusual in that respect, and make her less likely to be confused for another similar looking pony. [link] Is one of my favorite artworks -- all those snow ponies!

How would you change the mane or tail? I am still confused about this? her hair isn't suposed to be 'styled' much at all.. you can see it there in the 'snow pony' picture, [link] [link] [link] and on others also, but maybe I'm wrong?

Anyway, I appreciate your opinion! I'm afraid I can't accept most of it, but I would very much enjoy to know how you would change my OC to make her 'more original' while still maintaining her character Maybe I'll adjsut her character a little!

well, neither is wrong really just long slooth tails don't pixelate as well, and it didn't look quite like her to jsut have a big boofy smooth edged tail XD this was actually REALLY challenging to get right... because I know what looks 'right' for snowy, but it's hard to 'define' it y'know? but look at it this way. She might brush her tail all nice and smooth every morning.. but who knows how it ends up looking at the end of the day

... I need to get 'bad hair day' snowdrift drawn sometime XD
