Description 20th CENTURY FOX Marketing Art, Houston, SPACE CHIMPS. Pencil.

I was contacted by an independent design studio to render the Space Chimps main characters for Fox directly from publicity stills as provided by Fox animation. Easy money. HaHa! It was my job to merely translate the 3-D art into 2-D line work. Nothing fancy. Just tedious.

Since the release date in the U.S. was yesterday, I guess it's relatively safe to now post this online. Nevertheless, all copyrights belong to 20th CENTURY FOX.

I think it was either very brave, or very dumb to launch this animated film in the wake of Pixar's WALL-E, Dreamworks' KUNG FU PANDA, and on the same release date as WB's THE DARK KNIGHT. I haven't seen CHIMPS, but from what I've glimpsed and read, it seems the studio may have produced the movie on a far less competitive budget. This strategy has succeeded in the past for those rare surprises. The marketplace is so cutthroat these days, but hopefully CHIMPS will find the audience and success it deserves.

Lookit you, and your space knowlitch.
Go on wit yo bad seff, JC.

My guess is that this dude is the sage veteran of the SPACE CHIMPS crew, who knows what it's like to be "out there." Whether or not he gains the respect of the young'n's, or already has it (a la Yoda), can only be known by watching the film... someday. HaHa!

Oh? That's awesome! Which museum is this? I grew up in NYC. One of my favorites was the Natural History. I loved the Hayden Planetarium, too. And the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Do you get to do that webcam happy dance while you're on the job there? HaHa!

It's the NY Hall of Science

I love the Natural History too ^^

Nope...I haven't done virtual tours...and the happy dance that comes with it

But I did fly and eat pens, pull out said pens from my stomach, and be captured by ghosts... does that count?

He kinda looks like the late actor, Hume Cronyn, a sage wisdom behind that twinkle in his eyes.
