Description A couple of inspirations here; Robert Doisneau's wonderful photograph "The Kiss" which I've been wanting to do some sort of response to for years, and the wonderful song "Isn't This a Lovely Day" written by Irving Berlin (if you haven't heard it one of the best covers is a duet by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong).  In case you're wondering, I'm a huge pluviophile...or rain lover though I think I'll not be depicting rain again for a few weeks, I need to untie my frontal lobe after this one.  However, I'm a huge Asami Sato fanboy so I have a few ideas more for our snazzy adventuress.  Any comments welcome!  Prints will be available soon!!

O____O!!! Woah!!

I bet they didn't have any of this in the 20's! ( "Bending" )...

This is sooo well drawn and soooooooooo creative with the use of bending to daily life..

MOSTLY CREATIVE!!!

Funny you mention the twenties!  Back in Paris, and even more so in Berlin, there was a huge liberation movement so you actually might see just this sort of thing.  And thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it (and yeah, I was kind of wondering why we never actually saw waterbenders doing this in the show, you know?).

This is a great piece. I also like the metaphorical meanings of the art as well.

Thank you.  Yeah, there actually is a good amount that could be read in there, though honestly that's as much the picture taking charge as anything I was clever enough to think up, at first I just really wanted to capture a lovely moment and expression.  But that's not a bad thing, art should teach the artist as much as anyone else.

Omfg, I've been thinking about this... You know, useing your waterbending in the rain so you stay dry. But this artwork is even better. Love it, totally LOVE IT!

jessehbechtold In reply to CharmingIce [2015-04-28 16:32:38 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very very much!  I toyed with the idea that Korra could keep them both completely dry but the little circle from the waist up just felt a bit more intimate...maybe Korra thought so as well

I like the way you think. And I forgot to compliment you on the shading. Must have taken a lot of time. Well done!

Thank you.  I'm getting quicker at it, but yeah, it can take a while, especially when you have to be mindful of all the time of all the rain drops needing to stand out.

And the world proceeded not to give a f*&# about two girls expressing their love for each other in public. As it should be.

Yes, it's funny how the rain keeps falling, the sun keeps shining and world keeps spinning, isn't it?  Who knew?

I think I actually saw something like this play out on Sunday. And I was happy for the fact that those two girls felt comfortable enough to do so in the real world.

Yeah well...apparently, people are not paying any attention to what children watch on TV.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

reapergrimm8 In reply to AJ-Suvaku [2015-04-28 15:27:53 +0000 UTC]

That can be a mixed bag. On one hand, it could expose children to actual mature content they shouldn't see (Game of Thrones, various crime dramas, horror series) and on the other, it can show them wonderful life lessons (Avatar TLA and LOK, Adventure Time, Steven Universe)
