A brief sketch for an idea I had not long ago for the lit community.
I didn't go into anything on the submission side. More or less this is the presentation side one would see as they click on a Lit deviation.
I'm sure most of you don't know that I actually came to deviantART as a writer. It took a few years before I fell into what I'm doing here, now.
I've been meaning to re-upload some of my older work, and it occurred to me as I thought about doing so how entirely in need of help that whole process really is.
I hope this one is actually considered seriously. It could really improve our Lit system by leaps and bounds... and make it FUN to read again!!!
As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

The concept seems interesting, but I am a bit worried about the font size and such. It seems like it's gonna be much smaller on the screen, and that can possibly be a very annoying thing. Just a thought.

In my little sketch, certainly. But honestly, I'm sure that deviantART would take the idea and enhance it, so that all of the functions have maximized usability... which I can only assume would include the font sizing.
However, it would be cool to have a different/larger font size to choose from as an extra option. I should make an edit!

To be honest, I haven't any real clue. I would think though, that being this category was created in the first place we'd have our best opportunity right here.

that is such a good idea, and it would be so helpful if someone's got 50 chapters of a story posted on dA. i'm sure i'm not the only one who's written that much for one story.

Nope, you're not! And I'm positive it would encourage more people to share and read literary works on dA. Truly the Lit community feels like it's at a disadvantage right now compared to the others.

I love the annotations--when I'm critting a piece I do it best if I do it while I'm reading, as in to find a bit I like/think needs work and comment on it. It really disrupts my flow to have to highlight it, copy, scroll down, paste, italicise it, THEN comment on it, then scroll back up to go back to reading to it. It's hard to enjoy a piece when I'm leaving it every 30 seconds!
On a side note, I think the 'chapters' idea could work well for comics & cartoons too.

Oh very much on your side with that one. I completely understand. And a process like this--if at all possible---could certainly change the nature of that instantly.
...and yes, comics & cartoons well could use it too. But the Lit community very unfortunately isn't selling a damned thing at the glance of a thumbnail, so something like this could definitely put it back up on the map.
