Description
Time for the extensive description...Lucas is an altered clone of Luca. Cyrus, once enemy now friend scientist, was attempting to create an exact clone, but came across a huge issue. All clones would die in the early stages of development. Reason being, is that Luca's body creates mass amounts of energy that is focused and controlled by an orb of some sort in the center of his brain. The orb is not organic, so it has no genetic code. Thus, it will not grow within the clones. Since the clones won't have the orb, the energy that their bodies create to live ends up killing them.
This causes some issues for Luca. Luca must have this orb in order to survive. He can not live with out it. But because its not "truly" a part of him, then the question of his origin comes into play. Many extremists try to use this evidence to prove that Luca is an experiment (because he could not have been born with it) and there for has no citizen ship or rights.
So, back to Lucas: Cyrus decided to alter one of Luca's clones and replaced all genes tying to any of his abilities. The end result was a slightly deformed Kotian that had most of Luca's physical characteristics and was as close to his intelligence as was physically possible without his energy. Lucas was made right around when Tawny was born.
Lucas as had a major crush on her, since he can remember. He wishes to be the best for her, but she seems completely oblivious to his feelings. (They've grown up together and Tawny is a bit self centered) He admires her passion and out spokeness. Both Luca and Tasha are well aware of his love for their daughter. In fact, Luca greatly enjoys discipling him when ever he gets the chance. So that, when the time comes, he may be the best man for her.
Ok. So, this is the first time any of you have seen Lucas. (I mentioned him in "Luca, Bad Alternate Future") Not only that, but I've redesigned Tawny. (In essence, I gave her hair!!) This picture is set in Luca returns to Kotia timeline. (I should really post that...)
...............crap.....3am...........night everyone........

I have been waiting ALL DAY to comment on this!
And respond to your comments.
But I really wanted to comment here.
So anyhow.
You did a good job portraying the couple. The Luca/Lucas resemblance is there, definitely. But the attitude is quite different. I don't think we would ever see a red-faced Luca, but here's Lucas with a red face, because he's with the girl he likes. I should revisit other of your works with Tawny, but she looks as confident as what you describe. Here, I see her kind of pulling on Lucas after seeing something she likes. Are they shopping? The only thing I have to say about Tawny is for her hair I couldn't see for the top of her head where the head stopped and the hair started.
I hate ending on that note ...
I'm trying to see how Lucas is "slightly deformed"?
Again, I love the expressions and the expressiveness.

Me too! Lol!
Yes. Lucas personality is different, but he shares Luca's ideals. (If Luca did ever go red faced, Tasha would be behind it)
Honestly, I haven't got a clue! Lol! I originally was only going to draw Tawny, but I couldn't think of how to do it. So I put Lucas in too. They could be.
Yeah, my brothers pointed that out... ^^"
If you look at all my Kotians, (like Tasha) the hair is the same color as the fur on the head, so I've never separated them. (Or made a define line) I had kept all of her old hair shapes, but added long hair. (Look up "Tawny in a Red Dress" it's near the beginning of the sketch folder) This is a redesign, so I'll just have to try again and tweak it.
It's ok. Your critiquing and helping me get better. (Besides, I did the same to you today)
1) His ears never fully grew out.
2) He is missing one tail feather, and the other has split.
3) No one is sure yet, but Cyrus, Luca, Tasha, and a few others believe that, because of the deformed feather, Lucas may be sterile. Only time will tell.
Heehee! I do try my best.
Thanks!

I like that concept!
Okay, I don't know about anyone else, but now I want to see a scenario in which Luca is red-faced because of something Tawny did.
I see. I think longer hair would work if there were a definite line between head and hair.
Okay, so now for the differences.
1) I feel like such a doofus for not seeing that. I'm thinking that if I had a picture of Luca beside Lucas, I would have seen it. But then, Tawny's right next to him, and I still didn't, and her ears are grown ...
2) I feel like less a dummy for not seeing that, given the positioning.
3) Oh, okay.
Thank you for explaining.
So here I was thinking about the tail feathers behind all the Kotians, and wondering what they were. Then I noticed the guys had larger ones than the girls. I was actually wondering if it had anything to do with their ability to reproduce. Then you just said that "because of the deformed feather, Lucas may be sterile."
Jinkies.
As usual, you do well.

Concept?
Haha! You mean what "Tasha" did?
(Although we all know how embarrassing children can be)
Yeah, I'm feeling that there should be a split too. I'll do it next time.
Lol!! Aww, it's ok.
Yeah, it is kinda hard to see.
No prob! Happy to.
You noticed all of that!?
I try to make all my fantasies as real as possible. So there is a well thought out reason for mostly everything I make. I'm glad you came to the conclusion yourself. Admittingly, I find it uncomfortable to explain what the feathers are for... ^^"
It's one of those things that people wonder why the heck they got "wings" on their butt.
And as usual, thank you!!

Concept of Lucas having different personality, but same ideals, as Luca. That would be interesting. Kind of like my Will - Andrew scenario.
Yeah, I meant to say what "Tasha" did. Must have gotten your characters mixed up ... and yes, Tawny can bring a whole new level of embarrassment to Luca.
Yep, noticed that about the feathers - although I wasn't sure what they were, I was making some observations. Even in the art, without you saying that that they had a purpose, I had a suspicion that they were present for a reason, other than "artist wanted to make nifty characters." So basically you did two things there - created neat characters in which the parts all have a purpose. I like that.
The fact you make your fantasies as real as possible is quite impressive. That's something a seasoned author would do. The fantasies which involve just tossing some "impossible" elements together to form a story, but have no rules or reason for the different things, are not so interesting, and can even be annoying. But when the author takes the time to think through the different elements of the story and figure out how they work and play a role, then we're getting into good material.
So, I'll go ahead and say I'm learning things from you. Or, if I'm not learning, you're bringing things to the front of my brain anyhow.
Cheers!

Oooooohhh!! You've made me all giddy again!!
Seriously! I'm doing my giddy, hand waving thing, when I don't know how to contain myself!! Lol!! XD
(Imagine that purple happy circle that waves it's arms frantically, and you got a good example)
Well, I have been working on it for over 5 years now. It started out with no rules, but as time went on, we established some and slowly everything has just fallen into place. We can't just add something for kicks anymore. It must some how work in that fantasies guidelines, or it won't work at all. It's amazing really. I even find it hard to think about just how "real" this world seems to have become!
Really?
By the way. While I was at work, I had an idea for a quick comic. I'm working on it now, and hope to finish soon. I'm not good at comics, but I do find that they give the best practice for all kinds of things. It will have Luca (duh) and a new character, (well, to you and everyone else on DA) Laiten. If it works out well enough, I may color it. (Even though you should know by now that it takes me forever!)
Anyway, thank you for the wonderful comment!! I was at work today so I couldn't answer your long one. I'll get to it tomorrow. Goodnight!

Wow, well, I'm glad you're pleased at what I said.
You mean this? :squee
The fact is, there's at least two reasons why I haven't written fantasy anything. As I said, I thought of it as "taboo." If I wanted to write anything, it had to be either fact or fiction. In fact, out of sheer boredom, I would write essays. Well, that, and limited imagination. Second, establishing the rules in the world of fantasy could be not a lot of fun. This is especially true if you're dealing with fantasy involving pre-existing folklore, in which case you have to check to see if there are pre-existing facts, rules, conditions, and such; and make sure your work abides by them. Making your own world means that you get to spell them out, though, which is another version of "I'm not sure this is fun".
From the looks of it, you've managed your way through those "speed bumps." Some authors/artists would either not even bother with the rules, or for the amount of effort involved, wouldn't even start doing anything serious. I'm happy to see that you did what you have done. It doesn't matter how long you've been working on it; what matters is the fact it was done.
You got me thinking about something running around in my own head. Who knows, I may tackle something some day...
Yes, really. I wouldn't have said it otherwise.
Cool beans! I look forward to seeing it!
That's okay; I was at work when you started commenting on my stories so I couldn't respond right away either.

YES!! Thank you!
Well, having to research the fantasy is boring. That's why I made up my own fantasy!!
(I guess I really do need to write these things... Think Avatar, and that's kinda the shift of fantasy I'm going for) I'm not using anything in that movie though!! I'm just saying my world is completely made up, like it. Not founded on past folklore or fantasies.
Tackle something with fantasy in it? Like that one with the boy and the dragon?
I finished sketching the first page!! My comics aren't as "clean" as my normal sketches... It's because I'm trying to finish it as fast as possible. If I work real tediously on each panel, I'll loose my drive and patience. So you're going to see a lot of stray lines.
Goodnight!! And remember to change back your clock!!

Steve-C2 In reply to Jestloo [2012-11-04 05:18:14 +0000 UTC]
LOL!
Researching things for projects can be fun, if you enjoy the project itself. So can the labor involved in creating your own world in your project. I spoke with my friend recently, and he brought up a couple of points that made me think I should have written a fantasy instead of fiction, since there are terms and things coming up that need some sort of reference point.
Never mind I've visited a dictionary already for the story, to check on a word I wanted to use and make sure it meant what I thought it meant.
Yep, that's pretty much it. I have at least 2, perhaps 3 ideas in mind that qualify as "fantasy". My "Cedric" piece didn't really fit with any of them. It was just something that needed to come out. ...
Yay! And I completely understand the thoughts behind the comic having stray lines. It's like my rough drafts having extra words.
The "long comment" you mentioned earlier - was that my response to your remarks on "Cedric"?
Already changed the ones that don't do it themselves; thank you!
I'll look forward to your remarks tomorrow then.

My friend brought up some things coming up in the Will story that he believes I should clarify. The points I'm talking about are about 6 scenes ahead of the last scene I posted here with Will and Andrew, so later in the story that they become relevant. When you see "Will and Andrew" you'll see a couple of noble titles mentioned, and it has to do with that.
What I meant is that since I've already had to do light work by checking on the meaning of a word, I was kind of hoping not to do more work. In fact, just today I looked up something to make sure that actions being taken in the story line make sense for the timeframe involved. It did. (Write first, check later - love it.)
Hey, I didn't say they were "good" just "ideas in mind." Not sure if they'll ever come out, actually. Then again, I never expected this one to come out the way it has, so there you go.
Editing and reworking ... trust me, when you say that you don't feel like re-drawing characters that you've drawn, I understand how you feel. I feel the same way about adding stuff to my writing. But I heard that good artists are never really satisfied with their work.
Again, thank you for the input.

It's just a little something called "Fanbait". Anime creators put out a lot of pairings, regardless of what type of character they are, then they make uh... disturbing fanservice of them. That's actually how most anime get their fans, through countless pairings and shipping just because it's 'kawaii'.
For example, let's say sonic getting paired with knuckles, or tails, yeah that's how it works in the Anime world. But only idiots fall for this
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Jestloo In reply to MeisterBat [2012-11-08 04:20:25 +0000 UTC]
They actually do that on purpose!?
And I thought it was just crazy "fans" doing all of that stupid shipping. (The gay ones are the worse! >_<)
By the way, what does kawaii actually mean? (I've seen it before. Is it like cute?)
Why!? Why must they ruin the fandom with such poison!? TRUE fans respect the characters and keep things canon!
In total agreement.

MeisterBat In reply to Jestloo [2012-11-08 04:33:01 +0000 UTC]
Yes, Kawaii means 'cute'.
A lot of idiots think it's nice to have homosexual manga for the sake of 'progression' don't get me wrong, it's not wrong to have that type of stuff. But Yaoi Manga are purely made for disturbing fanservice, and attracting a lot of fans. Even if it touches on the subject of homosexuality, it's not because the creators are 'progressive' but rather to profit from the plenty of fangirls that buy their manga.

I don't see homosexuality as a "progression," but a "digression."
I guess now I can honestly tell you where I stand on this issue. I do not support homosexuality in the slightest. (Don't get me wrong, I don't hate gays, I just hate the sin)
