It's Phantom from the Mega Man Zero series! And he's flinging kunai! See what I did thar?-_- Pad puns aside, I like this one too. The anatomy is skewered, but I don't care that much. The motion in the pose was hard enough to capture as is.
Bleah. I prefer the X1-3 games art style any day. The painted-looking delicacies of the Zero series is neat to look at and all, but it's damn hard to replicate. Gotta be a painter to do it, me thinks.

Too bad he didn't get a lot of screen-time in the MMZ series. He has an interesting-looking aesthetic. ^_^

Phantom was never my favorite looks-wise, I think they could have taken his ninja-look in a different direction and made it look far better, but I guess they had to keep him in the same line as the other Guardians to keep the "X" feel. Meh.
Phantom is a favorite of many fans, though. He was/is respectable in character if nothing else.

Well, I think I have a lot to learn on the official style yet. I don't know how to get that sketchy line art look, and I don't know how to make it look painted.
But I do think this piece looks better than my average attempts at the Mega Man Zero style. That flying shuriken is a classic move of his in the games... I've never seen fan art of it, so I decided to take a whirl at the pose. Not easy to make it look natural considering there is only room for one foot on that weapon surface. It would have helped looking at official art for the pose I think.

I do draw Protoman, but not often. I like to stay in the realm of the X series, since I like those designs the most.
Have you seen my Hearts of Ice pic? That has Protoman in it.
