Overall Superman is superior to Thor.
But Thor is a natural born fighter and a VS is about fighting so i'm really not sure who wins.Β

Eh, I don't really see Superman winning here. Granted he could put up a great fight but in the end lose.

Superman deemed Thor too much of a threat to remain on Earth and tried to kill him probably
that or he tried to lift Mjolnir and accidentally destroyed a bunch of stuff trying to heave it from the ground making Thor think that he was a threat

cool even if he is a threat which Β he isn't seeing how thor wouldn't hurt any civlians plus superman would get his ass kicked anyway

i was going by how Superman would eventually snap and become more of a world tyrant than a hero and kill anyone he deems a threat to his 'subjects'
it's like how if the Hulk was present in the DC universe Superman would seek him out to kill him within seconds of learning of his existence

Hulk has beaten Thor countless times and Superman would be no different
or did you mean Superman would lose to Thor and Hulk?

I love how you can feel how confident Thor is in this picture even though you can't see him. Β The look on Superman's face is priceless as well. Β You can just hear him saying, "So...I don't have to hold back".

Of course he would; Superman is much more powerfull than thor; you dont have to insult people because they dont think like you..

Obviously they are both massively powerful and depending on the situation on the day have the ability to defeat each other but just on Thor's vast experience he would take the majority. I wasn't being insulting, anyone who'd actually read any Thor/Avengers comics would know that Superman wouldn't 'Kick his fucking ass' on any level.

Well, I do think the only one that could face Superman is the Hulk (faceing, not defeating) but that's a story for another time... haha

I've been obsessively reading Marvel comics since at least 1993 and believe me, putting aside any inter-company rivalry or blustering rhetoric there are genuinely a handful of Marvel heroes that could defeat Superman going by official bio power levels and previously seen feats, or at least have the potential to score a victory.
Hulk.
Thor.
Hercules.
Beta Ray Bill.
Quasar.
Silver Surfer.
Firelord.
Sentry.
Blue Marvel.
Hyperion.
Gladiator.
Doctor Strange.
Nova. (Full Nova force)
Gilgamesh.
Starbrand.
There are some heroes that have briefly been shown to have power levels that are equal to Superman and the above Marvel heroes but the levels are either rarely shown or completely forgotten about by a subsequent writer.
Captain Britain for example.

Let's see:
The Hulk is brute strenght, I dont think that's enough to defeat another guy with so much brute strenght, intelligence, superspeed, flying capabilites and other habilities...; and we cant talk about the peak of World war's hulk because we should talk about the Superman peak also; like when he past 50 minutes in the sun's core and he was able to punch with a power of eight octillions of megatons... (too much for me even, but that's comic facts...)
About Thor;Β Thor's strenght limit is that he can lift the serpent of midgard, the weight of the earth; Superman trains, TRAINS! 5 days long with that weight and it's still not challenge, this happens in SUperman comics New52; Thor cant fly without the hammer; Superman can fly whenever he wants; Thor doesnt have superspeed; Superman does; Thor doesnt have long range attacks without the hammer; Superman has the heat vision; Thor gets tired, Superman recharges with the sun.
Superman is not weak to magic, he's vulnerable to it; even so, he has fought Shazam or even worst, Black Adam; If Thor is a "god"; Superman has fought and won against those two; what powers do they have? well:Β
S - For the wisdom of Solomon; H - for the strength of Hercules; A - for the stamina of Atlas; Z - for the power of Zeus (which enhances all Captain Marvel's other physical abilities and allows for interdimensional travel); A - for the courage of Achilles (which would include invulnerability from ancient mythology); M - for the speed of Mercury (and, by extension, the power to fly)
The powers of two demigods, 2 gods (including Zeus, the greek conterpart of Odin himself) and even powers of a freaking Titan; Black Adam has this same powers, they use Magic, and even so, Superman has won against them...
Hercules; well Superman has defeated the analog Hercules from DC Comics (Superman All-stars).
Beta Ray Bill; well it's obvious that If I dont think Thor can defeat him, neither Beta Ray Bill..
I could agree with you about cosmic powers characters like the silver surfer or quasar; though incredibly, the Superman Cyborg has a crossover with the silver surfer where he almost destroys him... he didnt do it because of the interference of parallax, and in the Superman Cyborg's story, this seems to be canon; and well, in the end Superman has always defeated the Cyborg... so...
Firelord... well I dont, know, he survives the infinity wars being teletransported; he was galactus minion and maybe that gave him cosmic powers, but his normal powers before that... dont think so..
Sentry; well if he loses control he could turn into Void, maybe then... but strangely he was killed by Thor with the hammer after killing ares in "siege" ... so... I dont know how much invulnerable he is in the end... :S; some times he seems ridiculously overwhelming, but in the end... :S
About Blue Marvel, well, he is like Superman with antimatter capabilities, so just like with the silver surfer I could agree.
Hyperion is a Marvel disguised Superman, so if a Superman faces another Superman anyone could win.
Gladiator is another Superman... :S just like Hyperion... (The "house of the ideas" is losing points to me now I think about it... :S)
Dr. Strange is the pinnacle in magic, just like Dr. fate, it could be... maybe.
Full Nova force is equal to Hal Jordan absorving the power battery from Oa in "Emerald twilight" and we know what happened in "Zero hour", so it's obvious; it's much more powerfull than Superman..
I didnt know much about Gilgamesh, so I read the marvel database:
Superhuman Strength:Β He was capable of lifting well in excess of 100 tons;
Superman TRAINS with the weight of the earth, so bitch please...
Superhuman Speed:Β Gilgamesh could run and move at speeds superior to that of the finest human athlete.Β
Superhuman Stamina:Β Gilgamesh's highly advanced musculature generated considerably less fatigue toxins than the musculature of ordinary humans, and most other Eternals for that matter. Gilgamesh could physically exert himself at peak capacity for several days before fatigue began to impair him.
Superhuman Durability:Β The tissues of Gilgamesh's body were much harder and more resistant to physical injury than those of an ordinary human, and most other Eternals. He could withstand powerful energy blasts, great impact forces, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, and falls from great heights without injury.
Superhuman Agility:Β Gilgamesh's agility, balance, and bodily coordination were all enhanced to levels beyond the natural limits of even the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Reflexes:Β Gilgamesh's reflexes were similarly enhanced and were superior to those of the finest human athlete.
Till now, this only excedes HUman normal capabilities, it's not even close to be match for Superman..
Energy Manipulation andΒ Psionics could help him, though i seriously doubt that is enough to defeat Superman... this is info from the marvel database; i dont know if this varies in a certain comic arc...
About Superman..
- Superman never uses his true force against anyone because he doesnt Kill.
- Superman doesnt lose his powers if he's away from the sun; he accumulates energy (That's why he's still strong in other planets, by example Warworld, Apokolips, etc);Β
- The only being that wasted all of Superman's energy was Doomsday
- He only loses his powers in the presence of red sun radiation, that kind of radiation blocks Superman's ability to use yellow sun energy, but only as long as he is irradiated by red sun; if he gets away from it, he recovers his power; because it`s accumulated in his body.
Some I agree, some not, but this was fun ... (y)

Fair enough.
I'd say Silver Surfer would beat Superman.
Quasar gets's thought of by many as just a Marvel Green Lantern but he's much more powerful than that, up there with the more powerful of the heralds of Galactus.
Firelord is another that never gets any recognition for his rarely shown power levels, he's practically indestructible and can manipulate energy on the level of a small star (Including the heat, light, electromagnetism, gravity, etc.)
I don't know how powerful the DC Hercules is but Marvel Herc should be up there with the greats of the MU but he rarely gets any recognition.
He's one of the most physically powerful beings to ever walk the Earth, he's the God of strength and his strength level is immeasurable equalling an enraged Hulk or Sentry, he's shown feats up there with the best of them. He has equally impressive durability taking hits from cosmic powered beings without flinching and his stamina is immeasurable, he doesn't tire.
Hercules is one of the greatest warriors to have ever existed in the universe, even when he was still mortal he was the greatest warrior on Earth and he's credited with co-creating pankration the world first complete combat system the precursor to all modern mixed martial arts styles and the main combat style that Wonder Woman is trained in. (Yes I do believe Hercules would defeat Wonder Woman, he's stronger, more durable, has unlimited stamina and is a better fighter with more experience)Β Hercules consistently defeats gods of war and even defeated Thor in an unarmed wrestling match while drunk. He has over three thousand years of life experience during which time he's developed strategies that enable him to regularly defeat speedsters and flyers.
So to recap Hercules is one of the most physically powerful/durable heroes alive, he's one of f not the greatest warrior alive and has over three millennium of experience to draw upon, if he takes a fight seriously and goes all out using his full power and skill he's one of the greats and a serous threat to anyone. Add his Adamantine mace which is completely indestructible and backed by Herc's strength can smash through almost any barrier in a similar manner as Thor's hammer I do believe he has what it takes do defeat Superman. Again not every time in every encounter but he definitely could emerge victorious.

Well certanily he could, of course it's not a "he will win", but he could, maybe... but, tell me, this Hercules is a greek god? because in greek myths, Hercules is a son of Zeus with a human, just a demigod, (by the way, New 52 WW is daughter of Zeus with an amazon, so the mix with the same all mighty father should be more powerful than the mix with a mere human); I mean, Hercules should be a demigod according to Greek myths, not a god, and, a demigod is always less powerfull than a god; you say that he can fight an enraged Hulk or the sentry, so this demigod would be more powerfull than a god? I mean, Ares was killed by the sentry and Ares is the god of war! something doesnt make sense :S

Southwark In reply to DxeoMW [2015-01-23 18:15:54 +0000 UTC]
Hercules was a demigod until his mortal death where he shed his 'mortal shade' and was apotheosised into full godhood by Zeus.
He was granted true immortality and his already legendary physical attributes were greatly enhanced. He became the God of strength and heroic endeavour, later becoming the god of heroes. There have been several occasions where Zeus has stripped him of his godhood either taking his immortality and some of his power or returning him to his original demigod levels but he and Zeus usually eventually reconcile and he's returned to his full god power levels and status.

yet another sample of Superman vs Thor... and its great !! it clearly shows Thor's greatest offense and defense (his hammer) in... well every situation and particularly against Superman plus Clark's determination in the face of a god. i'm sure that its been stated countless times but i'll say it again anyway: Supe's most devastating option is his full-force/speed attack after getting supercharged by close proximity to the Sun while in Thor's case its his godly control over the weather plus his magic-based powers and his godly status. therefor its quite difficult to determine the winner in an all-out battle between an extremely powerful alien and a god... If Thor were to emerge victorious one thing is certain: he'd be hard-pressed more than any other time in order to do it !!
