Yeah, maybe! Problem is that it's not much of an engine... I just designed it specifically for my needs, and it isn't all that organised and such. A lot of it is 'bad code', that gets the job done but isn't pretty or modular.

I might upload the source code, but it won't be that much of an engine.

Yea i'm on same page as Peege, reminds me of GBA choosing you're own colour palette. The controls seem fine to me, not too floating or anything speed is great and I like the sound effects too.

This is pretty neat! The controls are pretty solid, I -love- that visual style. Whatever you do, don't make the tone serious. Make it goofy, and lighthearted, and everyone will love it forever.

hehehe, the game actually already uses something like that. If you press and hold jump in mid-air, you'll jump again as soon as you hit the ground.

The difference with their the one kyle pulver talks about is that if you quickly press the button and then let go before you land you won't jump in this one, which may/may not be a good thing. This one is more lenient in that you can press jump right after you leave the ground and you'll still jump when you land.

Heehee I didn't think anyone would notice that.

This looks very promising!

Those different palletes and eyebrows, the fluid control, and even small things like randomly chosen different jumping sounds make it allready fun to play around with.
Only the blocky charakter reminds me a bit of Meat Boy.^^

Yeah, I realised that once I had the design. I just wanted a character that was a little wider than it was tall. It's probably most inspired by Balrog from Cave Story actually.

If everything is a bitmap, you should probably set the quality to low.

Oh yeah, good idea...

Although would that even make it any faster? I'm just working with bitmapData stuff, so nothing is even being drawn with flash's regular API

I'm not sure, I just assume that the stage assumes that its content will be rendered in high quality regardless of which types of displayObjects are in it.

That's really clever ^^ You keep track of your last height so when you bounce you always reach that height. That's really clever. You can get a lot of ideas out this.

It no way it should lag on my computer. I have a i7-2600 3.4x4GHz, 16Gb ddr3 1866Mhz ram, and a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT. Sure my 9800 is getting old. But i shouldn't be any problem with this game.
