hey james, just a question. you speak of erasing the blue line in PS, but i thought the reason for using a npb pencil was to have it disapear apon scanning the page?

The blue doesn't disappear in the scanning process. I have to get rid of it by deleting the cyan channel in photoshop and messing with the levels after it's grayscaled. I assume the non-photo blue used to disappear some other way in the production process back in the day. But I'm not sure how that worked...

just things like letting the brush go into other panels or cutting into panel borders while erasing the excess lines. I'm always so paranoid about these things

I've been of the mind that anything can be repaired with white paint and ink. Especially in photoshop!

I love how messy even the gutters get. Like the inks have to live beyond the borders. Looking great man!

I'm still impressed that you pro inkers can keep it so clean and precise. Ink is this unpredictable, volatile substance to me. Still!

Well I'm equally impressed with how dirty and alive your inks are. That's something I've never been able to do and I'm always fascinated by those that can, and do it so well.

I love the lack of fear to test the brush in the border of the pages. Awesome work.

lack of fear/I didn't know that most pros just use a piece of scrap on the side...

Yeah, I think it's a way to do it as well. But I think using a piece of scrap on the side is carrying tension to keep an original clean and for me having fun is first. I like the way how you project fun and energy in your work.

your inking is fabulous. i love you left the, test strokes on the side. in the days of digital, it's refreshing to see an art form still done by hand.
