This is THE best painting of Gwaine I have ever seen. Most people (including me) can't quite capture him but this is just perfect! I love the eyes, you can see the defiance in them! It's amazing! Well worth a favourite!

You're too kind, if you're talking about the beard...that took ages as I painted every single hair but if you're talking about his hair on his head I just concentrated on the highlights to give the impression of lots of wavely hair which was done so quickly

Dreamy dark eyes, I love this! The set of his expression too, he looks miffed. How do you get them so good? Do you draw them out first and then colour them on photoshop or is the whole thing done on the program? However you do it it's wonderful, and this is another fantastic example of your talent for your gallery

Thank you once again for your fantastic comment. This one took me six hours and I would paint it the same as an oil painting. I do draw it out then I block in the all the colours on his face. Then I blend all the colours in to smooth it. Then once I've done all that bearing in mind my painting will now look like a burred monster, I start doing all the detail. This takes all the time, and I always start with the eyes then work outwards. The clothes and the background are the easiest and quickest to do as its just some soft brushes which are splashed on to give depth and to help people focus on the face. I might put some of the stages that I have describled here in a working in progress folder as I do get a lot of people asking similar questions. This is why I paint the hairs and clothes on all my characters so casually so people know I have actually painted it. I hope I haven't sent you asleep with this boring reply

No! I find it really interesting to know how they are done! You put a lot of effort into them and a lot of work obviously and I think that adds to the appreciation of the art

yes (i am using it now but do you need another program to draw or can i just use the program with it!

jht888 In reply to WhouffleJohnlock [2013-04-11 14:51:30 +0000 UTC]
Just use the program that comes with it as all the programs will try their best to copy the program that I'm using. Please let me know when you have done your very first drawing using your new pen
