Sleep debt is the effect of not getting enough rest and sleep; a large debt causes mental, emotional and physical fatigue.Sleep debt results in diminished abilities to perform high-level cognitive functions. Neurophysiological and functional imaging studies have demonstrated that frontal regions of the brain are particularly responsive to homeostatic sleep pressure.Scientists do not agree on how much sleep debt it is possible to accumulate; whether it is accumulated against an individual's average sleep or some other benchmark; nor on whether the prevalence of sleep debt among adults has changed appreciably in the industrialized world in recent decades. It is likely that children are sleeping less than previously in Western societies.

For me, this is morning, a sunrise, the golden first light broken by branches and leaves, randomly splashed horizontally through a window onto the contents within a room. The promise of the joy of a day ahead.
A positive and delightful image. I love the colors and surprising spray in the corner.

Thanks Doug! I don't think I can get away from doors and windows and light kind of thing, but sometimes doing things that are completely different defines an earlier style with a different spark, I have really enjoyed stepping off into some new ideas and styles... and although they feel like "the wrong pair of slippers" sometimes, they percolate back there in the brain. I see this in your work as well, a bit of the old, a step off into new and then bang! Something that is totally unique and Malone all at the same time. It's a blast isn't it?

probably heard the koan about the samurai who wake up after dreaming he was a butterfly, only to find a butterfly asleep on his leg, and wondered if he was actually a butterfly dreaming that he was a samurai

oh jeez, my mind is always full of questions going round and round like whirligigs... I like it when I hear music in my head, or my one thought in life is to watch the bloodhound or pet a pony. I really enjoyed visualizing that blue butterfly on the samurai, and then seeing him turn into one in front of my eyes. Oh, what was the question?
