I know just what you mean. It's hard work trying to follow a style, isn't it? I just go with my gut 90% of the time. Your work is very beautiful technically though, I really enjoy it just from that perspective, and find it inspiring.
I get a lot of fun out of listening to other people interpreting my pics ... recently there was a couple of friends round at my house, and they had a heated discussion about the forms in "Wind 2" ... like, one says, "ahh, you, know, these are ballet dancers, just turn the painting round ...", while the other says: "no, no, NO"! They're obviously giraffes having their heads ripped off by a tornado!" lol

Thank you for your comment...others have mentioned Kandinsky to me in relation to my work...being more of a musician, I had not heard of him, but have taken some time out to look at his work....Perhaps if I added a goat?

Personal, playful and surreal. This one reminds me a little of Picasso (or Braque's) collages and of Charles Demuth's abstracts. You really get a good feeling looking at this one.

Braque's collages are almost indistinquishable from Picasso's. I can tell most of the time, because, years ago, I spent some pretty insane months memorizing their major works for an art history course at university.:/ Charles Demuth was a lifelong friend of poet William Carlos Williams. Demuth went to a very clean style, but some of his abstracts have floating shapes and a similar playfulness to your last couple of pieces. Here's what wiki has to say about him:
