Description
This is the latest version of my small space station, called MIDWAY 331 for now. The biggest change from the previous version is that adjacent arms of the docking structures are now linked together by frameworks that support external storage tanks. I'm not sure this is an improvement from an aesthetic viewpoint, but it gives the station a trilobal form that is pleasingly reminiscent of the K7 space station from the TOS episode "The Trouble With Tribbles". I've added a ball-on-a-stick antenna to the top to further improve the similarity to K7.I have also made some changes to the shuttlebay and the lower section as suggested by bigtalldude, for which many thanks.

After looking at this & WIP#3, it's looking really good. I definately like the changes, but if you want to shy away from the military colour scheme, maybe try changing the tank colours to yellow with black chequer & adding some yellow & black hazard striping around areas of potential danger, such as the shuttle bay doors, the vents on the lower shaft, the base of the scaffolding holding the ball antenna & around the attachment points for the arms (if you decide to use them, which I would, but I can see how it would work without them)?

I'm a big fan of Chris Foss, and he used a lot of yellow and black checks and stripes on his spaceship designs. I have tried putting yellow and black hazard striping on previous models (e.g. around photon torpedo tubes and phaser banks) but it makes for too small a feature when used like that. However your suggestion of doing the storage tanks in yellow and black is good, so I will try changing every second tank to yellow with a yellow/black chevron pattern and see how that looks. I will also try changing the green and white chequer patterns on the side of the station to yellow and black.

K7 was both civilian and military there by giving her the elegance that she had as like major big city military bases here on Earth. Midway 311 could be primarily military. So she does not need such grace and elegance but just elegance in functional design.

I will try and check it out, but I'm ashamed to say that I don't read as much as I should nowadays. I read voraciously until I was about 30, but then I somehow lost the habit. It's just sad
