Description   The Curtiss Aircraft Company designed
and built the famous C-46 "Commando"
transport-cargo aircraft, for USAAC and
USMC, etc. during WW2.  The craft had
its vices, such as leaking fuel that ignited
causing the craft to explode in midair!
However, it was a weight-lifter, superior
to the capabilities of the Douglas C-47 "Dakota"!
Professor Anton Veeblefitzer, and his insane team
of aircraft student engineers, etc., took the twin engine
C-46 Commando design, and mutated it into a four-
engine, heavily-armed gunship, whose mission was
to escort unarmed cargo aircraft and defend them from
enemy fighter interceptors.
Pictured is a photo...(YES! A bonified, photo of this new
machine! Which proves that PAV's designs actually existed
in the real world (. . . .at.., least, in this particular alt' universe!)
The crew, depicted, are about to enter the Veeblefitzer-Curtiss
VC-146 "Super Commando" and take off for the all-to-often test
flights, to make sure that the thing didn't explode in flight!
The Super Commando was armed with sixteen fifty caliber machine
guns, and two 37mm auto-cannon (note the cannon troughs in the lower
forward fuselage.).
Only three machines were built, for some odd reason, such as the war had
already ended, and it was considered obsolete even before it was designed and
built. . . . (well. . . , do you think that THAT would stop good ol' PAV from spending
ga-zillions of dollars!?) .
The sole surviving machine is currently being used as a fire-fighting vehicle that splatters
water, and that cool-red fire retardant stuff, all over blazing forests, in California!
Happy, crazy, Christmas! - PAV and Jimbo
