Description The Ve-921A Hop Toad was an interesting vertical take-off design, for the G-g-g-er-r-r-m-nnn......., well, you know...., air...thing...
military..., force...., thing.
Standing on 3 legs, with the pilot facing down(!), and launching vertically, backwards (A), the craft would ascend to several thousand feet (B), and the pilot, assuming that he has survived this, so far, would reverse thrust (C), and ascend quickly to intercept enemy aircraft.
The craft was powered with the famous Ve-909 2,001 HP DragonPhart  liquid-cooled motor.  And armed with 4 x 35 mm Demon-Spitwad auto-cannon.
To prevent torque spin-out, it came equipped with a counter-rotating propeller, positioned aft of the pilot's cockpit.
The craft performed wonderfully, and the only complaint was that" "It was a Mo-Fo to enter the cockpit!"

wait did reverse mode existed on plane engines during this WWII-ish period?how advanced is this era was from our WW2? wouldn't be simpler to use adjustable props?

What do the pilots call the maneuver for transitioning to level flight after take-off--a three point Immelmann turn?

Sure!
Why not!

I really dig this wild design. Sort of like the polar opposite of the Convair XFY-1 Pogo.

Pilot probably has a better idea of where he's landing w/ this one.

Thank you!
Entering this thing was a pain!

This is by far the craziest aircraft design yet! I love the Hop-Toad! It really does seem like a late-war G-g-g-er-r-r-m-nnn design! Certainly a better aircraft than the Focke-Wulf Triebflügeljäger
