Description
In the original(fav.me/d6q2i6n ), the setting time is the late evening, like going on ten-thirty or so, where she's trying to get him to let her leave despite the blizzard outside. Now, in this current one, he's somehow convinced her to stay, and since the power, and thus the heat, went out around midnight, they resorted to trying anything to beat the cold, from vigorous exercise to a large fire with hot cocoa made with it to using their own body heat to warm eachother underneath his thick blankets in his bedroom.
It took several attempts to get her eye right, but I have an explanation for that concerning the situation they're in: while exercising in an attempt to keep warm, she was starting to get weary, and in her increasing clumsiness, she slips on one of the weights in the semi-darkness and accidentally lands her face on another one, getting her black eye.

Yes, there is nothing on them, but no... The only thing they're focused on right then is keeping eachother warm; it would have to be a comfortable temperature inside in order for them to do so, like between 70°F and 85°F. However, due to the power being out for a couple hours, the inside temperature had rapidly dropped from a balmy 75°F to a bone-chilling 35°F, and it's even worse outside: 17°F with winds at 30mph with a windchill factor of nearly 0°F!! So, as you can see, it's too cold even for that!! They do have thick blankets to their advantage, though!

That's just it; they're sopping wet from them going out in all that wet snow to get firewood for his fireplace earlier, so that would've served to freeze them more if they'd kept them on. It's a BAAAAD blizzard in this piece!!!

True, but he still has his old laundry habits, letting his clothes pile up in his room 'till the last minute, all of them being dirty from experimentation and who knows what else! Cindy is only visiting, and since the pipes are frozen due to the storm, he can't wash anything. Also, their good outfits being soaked from outside and the electricity being out only makes it worse... Goddard can't even help, since he's artificially exothermic, so he went into "hibernation mode".
