"Inhuman spirits that lurk the marshlands, preying on the living using the appearance of a frail, deformed man. Their whines and moans can be heard for miles around. Those who inhabit the swamps ward off these wights using effigies made of straw and twigs, covered in pig's blood, dung and various table scraps and are placed in a circle around one's home.
