Taang Week 2010! Day 1: Imperfections.Includes: Imperfect background! lineart! shading! Imperfections GALORE.
...I know Taang Week (Comic) 2008 continues to be unfinished, but that's okay, we can do two at a time. Still, not doing the cohesive comic format this year, just in case
To quote my sis's words: "Taang WEEK? You should just call it Taang DECADE." She has no faith in me... sigh.
To clarify, Toph has just come back from auditioning for HER part in the 2nd live action movie for The Last Airbender (which I very much suspect will never exist at this rate, so fair game).
Her reasoning for doing so? The general assumption being that there's nobody alive who could fully do her character (and her awesomeness) justice... besides herself.
And it was THEN that she finally met... fake!Aang imperfect!Aang Aang McSeriousFace OONG.
As noted, the *twinkle* Force was not strong within him.
Characters belong to Mike and Bryan and Nickelodeon. Except for maybe Oong, whose conception is credited to M. Night Shamllama-I'll-look-up-the-right-spelling-eventually.

The following petition represents us wanting M. Night Shyamalan to give us his ORIGINAL 2009 version of "The Last Airbender", which he filmed before Summer-2009....MUCH better than the version that's in theaters right now, which he filmed after the February-2010 reviews.

heh, i kinda liked the movie but the names thing pissed me off. it's ay-ng not oh-ng (aang). it's soh-kah not soeh-kah (sokka). and it's eye-roh not ee-roh (iroh). plus they didn't say Momo's name til the end and Haru is in it but his name isn't said at all!

Yes, I've heard of some majorfail!aspects from the movie: some people defending, of course, but generally the consensus is to save your money, it seems. I love the animated series to death anyway, so I try not to let the live-action affect how I perceive these characters.

The name recognition (or in this case, lack thereof) was a pretty good indicator that the people working on the movie and the people who worked on the show were... not cooperating. I hope.

Yeah it's more comfortable that way, but it sounds awful.
I'm from Belgium so technically I'm not Dutch, but they air the Dutch version here, since they're too lazy to make a Flemish version. But the language is practically the same.

'Toef' was my approximation of the name 'pronounced Asian', while still resembling the original. I don't actually know if that would truly work though

I love this comic and...I don't really know what to say about the movie. It was...let's say, as expected...I definately didn't feel the "twinkle force" either. *shivers* >~<

I was hoping for the best though fearing the worst... maybe I'm just too much of a stickler for certain canonical elements, but I didn't get the same "feel" from TLA as AtLA the animated series. I think perhaps someone who had never seen the original (or at least hadn't been as devoted as some, myself included
Taang Decade would possibly turn out to be like the One Piece manga series... who knows when it will ever end? XDDD

Well, I find it funny that every way of saying it that I've heard has llama in it somehow. I found out my friend calls him Shalamallama. XD
Yeah, I really was hoping that the movie would prove me wrong about the horror I knew would happen, but I think it proved it and added some. I saw it wish two people who didn't know it well and they didn't have much to say, though they did voice things they found wrong or confusing. Me on the other hand, I went all out, though I did keep in mind I was watching a movie based on a show and not the show itself. Turns out that none of us really enjoyed it (though I kind enjoyed picking it apart).
When you say it that way, who knows if Taang Decade would be a good or bad thing. I guess it depends on how much Taang one could take.^^

Awesome comic as usual. I read in one of the above comics that Taang week is almost over? Best of luck with that! I hope it turns out great! And yes, I do share a lot of the frustrations that most other people in this comments section did with the movie. In fact, I ranted about it in my most recent journal - it was a long rant.

Wow, that was a pretty good (and thorough!) breakdown of the movie. I think I'll have to link my sis to it just to belabor the point that going to see Toy Story 3 instead was the the right choice xD;;
And yeah, Taang Week Comic is almost over. I say "almost" as meaning in less than twenty pages, but that's because I'm not sure how much action I can squeeze safely into one page at a time
