This was inspired by this beautiful piece by *tir-ri :
I like hers better. ;w; Seriously, I think I'd probably trade a vital organ to be able to paint like her.
Uhm... at first I debated on what to put in the center of the light, like a chalice or... something else representative of the divine or inner peace or whatever... but then I realized that it's different for all of us but it also all comes from the same source. What peace and divinity is... that's something that we are always searching for. When we are together in love and community... that's one thing that brings us closer to it. The fish being us, of course. X3

Love the lines and colors in this, and I'm glad you left the source of the glow up to the individual viewer's imagination!

Thank you very much, haha, well you know people are going to see what they want to anyway, might as well tell them it's okay.

Hm, where to start. I love the concept, and how they are all swimming towards 'the light', and how they change color as they get closer, and how that light really seems to glow. Good job!

Holy GOD this is beautiful /flailflailflail
*tir-ri 's painting is beautiful too, but this and hers are two different things. There's no comparing them. I love the sense of movement in this. And you were right about not putting anything in the center--it works perfectly this way.
Lovely~

8D Thanks very much! I was a bit worried that it might be too busy... and that there's something a little off about the composition...
But anyway, thank you!

I've been playing around with negative space in a lot of my work, but in this particular painting the only "natural" white (as in, the white of the paper) is in the center of the light. For that, before I did anything else I put down a wash of color that was a gradation from blue to green to yellow to clear. Everything else is on top of that.
For the other places of white, that's actually white acrylic. X3 Some watercolor purists might consider that cheating, but in my opinion there are no rules in art. X

LULZ Well, you should have seen the first time I tried using them. DISASTER. X3 I've been working with watercolor for about... almost 6 years now, with lots of classes and instruction... and I know for sure I'm not a master of it.
You might want to check out *puimun 's work... she blows me away!!! And :tir-ri: too. There's probably lots of others, but those are the ones I think of off the top of my head. X3
