DISLIKES/WEAKNESS: Madame Mocha (SSSSHH! Dont. Say. Her name. So loud. She might find us here...

Being raised a total sap, Larry has a difficult time saying no to women. Normally this isnt a problem, but SHE. She makes its one...

Madame Mocha is obsessed with Larry. Ah, that's with a capital O, buster. This woman would pull a misery on him in a heartbeat if given the chance. Due to this, Larry fears Mocha and her behavior genuinely bothers him. Be it known now that despite it being played for laughs, No, i dont find harassing someone in a predatory manner to be funny irl. That being said, people like Mocha DO in fact exist and im usually not exactly one who turns away from portrayals of characters like Mocha over "muh morals".)

RELATIONSHIPS:

(* = Will go into further detail on said characters page later)

Diana Dastardly:
Diana often calls Seltzer Mr. S; Seeing his as an older brother type, Diana often comes to Larry for some much needed advice, or the occasional Alcohol free Soda. Larry is always happy to help Diana out, eventually leaving Ragtime Soda Bar in the hands of Trey Bullclef to go on her globetrotting adventure to save the tooniverse. Of course, he's really only there for Teresa...

Diana finds Larry lack of ability to sct on his romantic feelings for Teresa to be annoying, much like everyone else, and demands the two get a room or get over themselves.

Doodle:
Doodle and Larry are on a first name basis. See, while Diana rarely drinks alcohol, Doodle is quite familiar with the bottle. Mind you, Doodle is unable to get drunk, and merely drinks for the flavor, something that, as a fellow alcohol buff, Larry is more thsn hsppy to discuss in detail with his felty friend.

Cream:
"Heya, CC! What'll it be, 2, no, 3 Shirley Temple IIs? You already know im on it, hon!"

Cream is Larrys most loyal customer, and his loyal customer of the month for 6 years running. Long past becoming friends, Cream and Larry are practically brothers at this point, Cream essentially living at Ragtime as a home away from home. According to Larry himself: Cherry has roughly paid enough over the course of 5 years to keep Ragtime Soda open for 6-7 months without a single customer. He better pray that Livers don't give out in the Tooniverse...

Nickel:
Nickel and Larry are very close friends, as Nickel frequents Ragtime Soda almost as often as Cream does. Having a relationship similar to Bob and Ted from Bob's burgers, the two of them are always up to talk up a friendly conversation, but sometimes they can end in shouting matches as Larry shoos Nickel away.

Larry often seeks advice for this "lady he's interested in" from Nickel. Why would he go to a meat head like Nickel for love advice?  Apparently all the advice Nickel has given, despite it basically being nonsensical mumbo jumbo ends up having some sort of meaning in it Larry somehow deciphers from it all. And the funniest part? It works. Nickel's gobbledygook is actually getting him brownie points with Ter-I mean, "the lady he's interested in".

Raspberry:
Larry is incredibly friendly with just about snyone he gets to know, Raspberry included. Initially offering her a free drinknon the house as a sorta "welcome to the friend group" drink, Raspberry refused vehemently, tonthe point his constant offer angered.her and made her flush red in the face. After discovering Raspberry hates alcohol and cant even stomach it, he introduces her to the wonderful world of Virgin drinks, with all the deliciousness without the alcohol.

Raspberry discovered she loves Mai Thais thanks to Larry.

Miss Honeydew*:
Teresa.
With every shuffle of her waist, the air itself moves out of her way, knowing it is unworthy of even being breathed in by her perfect nose. The sun's rays stop just before they hit her, making her glow exceptionally bright like a goddess among women. Her wonderful apple shampoo scented hair can make an entire room feel like you're in the middle of an orchard in full bloom. Her elegant, dainty feet clack ever so softly with every step she takes, the filth of the modern city not even daring to cling to her as if the dirt itself knows it is unworthy. She is my sunshine on the brightest days and my Moonlight on the clearest nights. I love you...

Teresa Honeydew Melon~

Yeah, safe to say, Seltzer and Honeydew miiiiiight like one another. Just a smidge.

Jokes aside, Larry and Teresa are always seen with one another, be it after a long day of work,  or a vacation on the beach, or even on the cold, far out surface of the Moon, Teresa and Larry are merry companions no matter where they go.

If only...

If only...

IF ONLY THEY'D HURRY UP AND TIE THAT KNOT ALREADY!!! Geez! Whst, is the universe preventing the inevitable, or something!?

Madame Mocha*:
"O-Oh, do we really need to talk about "Her", do we? I-im good id really rather we no--"

Madame Mocha is obsessed with Larry to an absolutely unhealthy degree. She has a shrine of his discarded personal items, pictures of him obviously taken within his own home, and has a tendency to react negatively when Teresa, her "best friend" is mentioned. Its safe to say that Mocha is willing to do just about anything to make Seltzer hers and hers alone, even if it means Honeydew, or even Larry  suffering an "accident"...

Trey Bullclef*:
Larry is Trey's boss, hiring him on to play live shows on his Ragtime piano every night of the week. Having been friends fornyears before thenmsin story begins, Larry and Trey have a dude-bro bond with one another, obviously friends forst and business second.

Becca Öntap*:
Larry is Becca's boss, hiring her on as a waitress for the bar. A bit of a ditzy, carbonated airhead, Becca often finds herself ending up on the touchy feely side of many ill intented creeps. Not if Larry can help it, though. Larry obviously cares a lot for Becca as both an employee and a person, wishing she better learn how to defend herlself.

Mephisto with Sin and Virtue*:
As the story progresses, Larry and Mephisto begin to grow much closer as friends. Initially hesitant to tslk to him sll that much, Mephisto is Larry and Teresa's guide throughout the gang's trip to Paradiso, and thebone responsible for telling them of their tragic fate. Being a being alsoncreated for the sole purpose of loving someone he can never be eith, Mephisto understands the young lover's pain personally, and as one of Diantha's prized creations, Mephisto swears he will keepnthem safe from the jaws of Nothing, no matter the cost.

Despite them being legally old enough in the cosmic sense, Larry refuses to serve Sin and Virtue alcohol. This makes Virtue see him as a lame ass weenie.

Sherry*:
Sherry absolutely loves Larry and Teresa. Two beings built on unyielding love, with the most boring vanilla natures in their lives, but some ofnthe freakiest desires shes ever seen in mortals, they're a sexy tricksters dream come true. Often teasing them about their secret fantasies aloud for the other to hear, Sherry cant help but feel fascinated with the hopless love birds. Despite everything that happened between her and Diantha, Sherry truly does adore the two, perhaps becsuse they represent a relationship ahe and Diantha will never be allowed to have, or perhaps because Sherry herself was once the Angel of unyielding love.

Patrick*:
Larry and Patrick are life long best friends, which you probably wouldn't consider just looking em side by side. Ever the optimist, ever the stoic, Larry and Pat just enjoy each other for who they are. Patrick, having it rough with life and work in general, often drowns his sorrows with pure everclear, something that, while Larry serves him, chastises him that drinking like that will kill him one day.

Valentine*: When Valentine first came into the picture, he believed Pat finally lost it. After all, an angel just happened to fall out of the sky and hsppen to land in Patrick's office, AND happen to be his guardian angel? He thought Larry lost his marbles. However, now that shes a main member of the friend group, he accepts her with open arms.

Maddie*:
Larry doesnt really understand why, but even when wearing a smile, He cant help but sense...disdain? Hate? Something like that, at least. Its as if Maddie is jealous of He and Honeydew, although he truly doesnt know why she'd dislike them, given how sweet she is to basically everyone in Summerville, Diana included.

At a Christmas party once, Maddie begins to list things about Teresa that not even he knows, such as her shoe size, what she'd be wesring thst evening, and that she would be giving him a gift he's been waiting for more than anything, essentially spoiling her finally attempting tonask larry to become an item.

This shakes larry to his core.

Hemlock*:
Hemlock seems to have an interest in Larry and Honeydew both, calling them the goddess' "human love birds", often mocking them with tweeting after attacking one in front of the other.

Springton, USA**: Larry's family is from the quiet nearby town of Springton, Summerville's closest major city and the closest town to Summerville starting off.

Eventually moving to Summerville to open his bar, Larry's family is still back in Springton, running a Pizza shop as a rival to Dusty the Dustpan and his Dusty Diner.

APPEARANCE:

Body:

Larry is a Tall toon man, standing at 193.04 cm (6'4"), being much taller than Diana and her trio of friends. Larry sports a foggy seafoam green head of wavy hair, and has dark green eyes with mild bags underneath them. Larry is almost always spotting a large toothy grin with small, pink dimples.

Larry wears a striped red and cream colored button up Long sleeve puffy shirt. He wears a clip on tie on his neck, as well. When on the job, he wears a light leather colored Apron with a Cherry print embroidered on the left side of his chest. In the front pocket is a stsined washrsg he uses to polish off the Bar at all times.

ITEMS:

HEAL: Mr. Seltzer's Cure-All Ale

"Just add water, and kiss that head splitting hangover goodbye! With the crisp, juicy taste of Honeydew Melon, My ale goes down smooth--no chemical after taste like with name brand hangover medications. So dont sit ins bed wishing you could do something, get a pep in your step with Mr. Seltzer's Cure-All Ale!"

Mr. Seltzer's answer to an upset tummy or splitting hangover alike, Cure-All Ale is a special drink that can immediately relieve a drunk team member and or cure a sickness status with the sweet, fizzy goodness in a glass. HOWEVER, as good his Drinks are, Mr. Seltzer's Ale only really cures status ailments, but dont actually heal his allies
Still, pair him up with the likes of Cream Soda, and she can drop any foe with painful accuracy while continuing to drink more and more.

RANGE: Pepper Spray

"How do like them apples you bast--a-AGH! Now it's in MY eyes, too!"

Larry's Mace is incredibly accurate, thanks to his years of bartending training him to take down the most belligerent of drunkards. Give the can a shake, take aim, and shoot for the eyes! Like an accuracy debuff move from Pokemon, Larry can stack his spray's effect on enemies more and more.

Like all party members sans Raspberry and Diana, Larry has a caviat to his fighting style. Wver the gentleman, Larry will not throw punches. He prefers not to attack unless provoked. Mind you, its not like he cant throw a punch. In fact, Larry was a champion boxer in his early college years, but after the incident...he vowed never to throw a punch again.

DESCRIPTION:

"🎵~When you need a draft, from the tap, im your guy

Be it beer refills, or a side of fries

Please, enjoy the show, take it slow, my my

Kick your feet up, gulp em down--im your Guy~🎵"

Larry, coming from a long line of Bartenders, is the proud owner of Summerville's Old Ragtime Soda Bar, located next door to Happy Honeydew's and directly across the street from Diana's apartment building. Originally a small town boy from Springton, Larry moved to Summerville to start, and tragically end his dream job of making and selling lotion and soaps, and decided to fall back on the old family tradition and turn Summerville's dingy old bar into a lively attraction. Given how important the Ragtime Soda Bar is to the story, it ends up becoming one of the main meeting spots throughout the gang's adventures,  often stopping in like the Phantom thieves did at le blanc, and serving a similar function.

Friendly and forthcoming, Larry is loved by many of his regulars, and likewise he cares a grest deal about his customers, often indulging in stories about their lives over a few drinks. Due to his cheerful disposition, you would never be able to tell he's actually insanely depressed. Not because if his job or his finances, no. Larry is a lovesick puppy of a man, and literally everyone knows it, despite him acting like its a major secret. See, Larry likes miss Teresa Honeydew. Like, a lot. Like, if you told him all he had to do was eliminate 5 orphans for her hand in marriage, he'd as if 6 would net him more points. Larry is head over heels in love with Teresa, and, to bo ones surprise but theirs, Teresa feels the same way about him, too. However, its as if the universe itself is preventing them from just finally admitting it to the other. And that's because it actually is!

See, [[SPOILERS]] Larry and Teresa are not just love struck heartthrobs. In fact, Larry and Teresa are Diantha's first mortal creations. Similar to Adam and Eve without the silly snake and fruits, Larry and Teresa are the embodiment of pure, unbreakable love, which for mortals, hell, for herself even, should be an impossibility. Due to the power of their love, they have become a target for Nothing, attempting to erase them in from of Diantha's eyes before erasing her too. To ptevent these two from suffering, Diantha created a failsafe of sorts. The lovers would be prevented from ever getting to embrace, or become romantic, and if their love ever shattered the universe's boundaries, eventually one of the two will die, triggering the end of the world and a complete refresh of the Tooniverse down to the artstyle. This is why as painfully obvious as it is to everyone, The two of them can't admit to the other how they feel, despite so desperately wanting to. [[END OF SPOILERS]].

Larry, of course, doesn't run the whole darn business by hand. He is the boss of Trey, the Ragtime's live Pianist, Becca, the Bar's ditzy waitress on wheels, and Franklin, the head chef that we never see on screen aside from his big hairy arms holding plsyes out for Becca to grab. It's nit the most lavish if jobs, bjt to be so close to Teresa and work in a field hes already built for, Larry simply can't complain.

Prior to Diana having him join her on her globetrotting adventure,  she would come to Larry to tell him her diabolical plans for thentown of Summerville for the day, and Larry would actually entertain her ideas, even sometimes offering suggestions to her plans. These options ususally involved him making up extra tasks up to keep Diana away from the bar longer. After all, He likes Diana as much as the next guy..unless that guy is Nickel,  but even he needs some peace and quiet sometimes. Whever diana cstches on that his plans are just busy work, he ususally laughs awkwardly and walks away.

TRIVIA:

-Larry is conceptually based off of both Flapjack's Peppermint Larry. From his Voice to his looks, down to his occupation of a Bar thay sells sweets in place of booze, and Larry Needlemayer from the Amazing world of Gumball, for his depression and hsppy go lucky on the job demeanor.

-Larry and Teresa both are incredibly touch starved freaks. And i dont mean that insultingly. I mean Honeydew likes to be choked and enjoys "pillow play", and Larry may or may or may not like being stepped on and sucking a certain woman's toes. (Hey guys? Try to keep these PG-13...please?)

-Larry knows what every single one of his regulars likes without even having to ask. Come by often? Larry knows it! So dont worry about ordering that Rum and coke, Larry's got you covered as long as you got that Tab this time around!

-Larry and Becca's relationship is based off of Paul McPherson and Bizzy Carey from the comic/TV show Baby Blues. That is to say, Larry worries about Becca like a father would, and much like Bizzy, becca is a bit of a ditz who doesn't always do whats best for herself.

-[[SPOILERS]] In the end of Diana Dastardly, Rather than close the Ragtime Soda Bar down, Larry wills it over to Trey Bullclef and Cream Soda. The two of them end up converting it into a more modern club styled bar. This is because after the story ends, Teresa and Larry leave Summerville and travel the Tooniverse for an extended honeymoon after their wedding is interrupted over the course of the story.

-Larry has a hobby of making lotions and soaps when he's able to. Though he refuses to sell them until he perfects his recipes, Teresa is more than happy to test them for him. She has noticed a majority of his works are all Honeydew scented...and she LOVES that so much it makes her beet red everytime she smells them.

-Larry, Teresa, Mocha, Patrick/Paul and Lovestruck all went to high school together. Originally, i had a silly ides to show a spinoff of DD where it was these characters before Diana was introduced to their lives, and it would play out like a dramasy like As told by Ginger, focusing on Larry and Teresa's will they wont they, as well as Mocha's spiraling into a love based obsession.

-[[SPOILERS]] In every Tooniverse that came before, Larry and Teresa confessing, and expressing their love has signaled the end of the universe. Whenever they tie the knot, be it with a wedding or simple kiss, Nothing decends on the world and proceeds to erase everything from existence, the two of them always dying right before they can unite in a loving embrace. This timeline, however, things are gonna be different.

-[[SPOILERS!!!]] Larry and Teresa are the Diana equivalent of Adam and Eve, being Diantha's first human creations. Theres ni myth of the Apple and even in Diana, however. Instead, Diantha created the two of them after her broken relationships with Cherish, her first love, and Mephistopheles, her second love. With a heavy heart, Diantha created the teo to be the lirest, truest love imaginable. Basically, the two do not fight, they do not disagree, they do not mistreat nor mistrust. They are love in human form, and Nothing wishes to see them erased, preferably in front of Diantha in order to watch its prey suffer before eating it.
In the past few timelines that have been erased by Nothing, The end of the universe has always been signaled by Teresa and Larry finally breaking through the whims of the universe, getting together. They may be unaware of it, but ultimately, they subconsciously know that if they ever get together, something bad might happen. Thisnis why their willnthey wont they is so obnoxious to everyone. Everyone obviously knows they're perfect for each other--themselves included.

-Larry is often seen with bags under his eyes. This is because nearly every night, He and Teresa stay up until the early morning hours talking to each other about--well, anything. Teresa ususally always instigates these long talks, and Larry, never one to say no to a woman, would never turn down anything Teresa asks.

Character "Themes":

So, ususally when drawing, i tend to play music that i feel best represents my character im drawing st the moment to feel further connected to them. It may sound silly, but it's one of my favorite ways to getting absorbed in my artwork. So, going forward, i will refer to these songs as a character's "Theme".

Being a Ragtime themed bar owner, you wont be surprised to know many of his themes are based on that theme:

Namco - Toypop theme : youtu.be/Y4m-OABlJgk?si=ZKH_pp…

One of the first ever songs i used for Mr. Seltzer back in 2017, when i first made him. I always envisioned Ragtime Soda feeling like your favorite local bar and grill restaurant, if you have one. The familial air of a bunch of locals getting together after a long day of work,  or a late night weekend rendezvous on the town, Ragtime Soda is supposed to feel like everyone's favorite place to be. So go ahead, sit on down, kick your feet up and pour one down, and enjoy! When you're at Ragtime, you're family.

Stardew Valley - Stardrop Saloon:

youtu.be/KnK1h16ytGg?si=xe2Jgk…

Another homey feeling song to chug a cold one down to!  This song, like the Toypop theme, hits that Ragtime feel perfectly. When i think of Ragtime Soda nowadays, i think if this one fits the feel much better.

Daft Punk - Something about us: youtu.be/sOS9aOIXPEk?si=BWv-AD…

"It might not be the right time

I might not be the right one

But there's something about us I want to say

'Cause there's something between us anyway

I might not be the right one

It might not be the right time

But there's something about us I've got to do

Some kind of secret I will share with you

I need you more than anything in my life

I want you more than anything in my life

I'll miss you more than anyone in my life

I love you more than anyone in my life"

This song man...what a tragic lovestory to the ears. This song fits Larry and Teresa, as it's no secret they are madly in love for each other and unable to act on it. And yet the fact theybcsnt be with their one and only eats away at them both. If the universe wont let them be together in this lifetime, maybe next lifetime they'll have better luck. These poor lovebirds have dealt with this cruel hand countless times come present day Diana. The lyrics for this one in particular embody what it feels like to be Larry and Teresa. They truly do need, want, miss, and love one another more thsn anything or anyone in their life. The two of them are the living embodiment of pure, true, unwavering and unachievable love.

The Drums - Money:  youtu.be/4nRX7NIrrzs?si=8chRc_…

"I want to buy you something

But i dont have any money

No i dont have any money"

Another track the fits Larry like a glove. Larry comes from a relatively low income family, and has to work nearly 7 dsys a week to sustain himself. Thst being said, Teresa comes from an incredibly rich and world famous family, essentially their dynamic is the equivalent of a  full time Pizza delivery driver wanting to woo Ariana Grande. Teresa, however, doesn't csre about Larry's money. She wants Larry for Larry, and nothing but Larry. Still, Larrybjust wishes he had s little more money, if only to treat Teresa like the princess he sees her as.

HOME - Goodnight bean: youtu.be/JMcQiCMU3q4?si=NLilL7…

This. This is how a first kiss with the love of your life sounds. Sparks flying, feeling like you're on a rocket flying through the cosmos, just you and them. This song is the embodiment of Larry and Teresa finally, after so msny lifetimes of denied joy, finally break free from Diantha's universal chains, and walk their own path together unhindered. This song represents everything Honeydew and Seltzer have worked for and i love it all the more because of that.

VOICE:

Larry, from his name, to his job, his laugh, and even his grin, are all based on Flapjack's Peppermint Larry. As such, theres no other voice i could ever imagine than THE Jeff Bennet.
