Description
I wanted to prove to myself that I could do something vaguely resembling cell-shading. The wolf-dragon hybrid I created for *Cideth was a good opportunity to try it. This took far longer than it felt like it should have... but I guess it wasn't bad.Lineart in Adobe Illustrator (~2 hours). Colour in Adobe PhotoShop 7.0. (~4 hours). Background rendered using new brushes given to me by =Venator-Somniorum .

Thank you very much! I'm glad you think so... because I rarely ever do it.

It doesn't look like it, it looks like you've practiced it a lot.

Really? Heh, thank you... because I don't ever practice it at all... Aside from the two or three comics I've drawn, this is pretty much the only cell-shaded image in my gallery.

holy shit! thats awsome! i like it a lot, specially the idea, storms kick ass ^^ and the energy in his paws or whatever looks awsome, if you dont mind a little of constructive chrictisism, i think the sky should be darker, or the clouds should be more noticebly "stormy" (sorry for the spelling x.x)

Hehehe, thank you very much I very much like storms myself - you're quite right, the clouds could've been darker and stormier, but I was lazy X3 The background took me a whole, I don't know... Five minutes? So yeah. I was lazy.

wow, you did a very nice job on this, especially since cell shadiing can get pretty tricky. :0 I love the color scheme! Awesome work, as always! :3

Thank you very much! As for the colour scheme... Heh, I was going to do more elaborate colours for the dragon/wolf, but once I was done with the grey/black I thought it looked pretty good the way it was.

Thank you very much! Hehe... It's funny you mention the wings - they are what stood out to me as being the most anatomically incorrect X3

Mmm... Nope! Anatomically incorrect! The feather shapes are all wrong, and the way they're organized on the wing, and the variation in length... ALL WRONG XD

*chuckles* Then again... Most stylized wings seen around dA are anatomically incorrect... X3 They still look good, though.

Shading, huh? Yes, it has good light/shadow i can see! You did a good job on it, mainly in the fur(On the tail, for exemple.) That energy focus on itΒ΄s hand has a nice effect! I liked this piece!

Truly not that much of the style that can be usually seen in your gallery but like this as well. The high quality has stayed and that's great. I think you've pulled this up really nicely though I don't actually even know what cell-shading really means. Maybe that's not such a big problem.. Anyways. I really like the fierce feeling, how the whole image is so tense and like ready to explode into action any second. I think I mostly like the wings and the paws [the pose is really great]. The fiery eyes look rather scary, even more with the evil grin. Great job here.

I'm glad you think so - thank you! And cell-shading is basically inked linework that's been coloured using flat blocks of colour, like anime and Disney (it's named after animation cells). Hehehe, and I'm glad you like the beastie - he was fun to make
