I apologise for the poor quality - jpg compression made the stars look not as nice in the end, but anyways...Enjoy!

Thank you very much :3 It's really quite simple when shown how to do it - anyone, tablet or no, can do this if given Photoshop :3

yeah, pretty easy..
all other tutorials i've seen (or a lot anyway) have been really complicated and not worth much in the end.

X3 Tutorials are good for ideas, or for showing stepwise ways of doing technical things. It's best to find your own personal way to do things - that's why I never really strictly follow a tutorial. I'll look at them sometimes, to see how it's done, see how other people do it, and then I just try on my own, and figure it out myself.

Aw, thanks This is the easiest of my tutorials to follow - it almost always produces something decent
Mostly because it's 90% Photoshopping, and only 10% skill X3

pretty cool tutorial you've done
though it didn't quite work out for me coss i was using a big resolution

jocarra In reply to obtusellama [2007-08-30 23:17:13 +0000 UTC]
Ahh, yeah, it doesn't work quite as well at higher resolutions - you have to make a small patch of it, and then transform it into something larger, then use gaussian blur to get rid of the pixellation, along with some manual touchups.

obtusellama In reply to jocarra [2007-08-31 04:09:32 +0000 UTC]
yeah, thats a good idea
[link] i used it here but you have to fullview to see the stars...even then they are small.
i'll go back and fix it later
dunno why i didn't think of doing that >.<

jocarra In reply to obtusellama [2007-09-01 18:59:21 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, yeah, I'm not sure why it came out so small - you might want to try to make the whitest stars whiter, and add more contrast, and manually paint some of the stars to be a little bigger/brighter.

this is so useful, but what do you do for an enormous canvas size like what im using which is about 6000x4000 pixels.

jocarra In reply to crazycommi89 [2007-08-21 02:21:11 +0000 UTC]
Do the same thing? Or do the same thing on a smaller scale, and then use clone?

crazycommi89 In reply to jocarra [2007-08-21 03:14:04 +0000 UTC]
sry about that. My project has an extremely large size about 6000x4000 so what happens is that the stars looks extremely small, to the point of being hard to see. The steps you describe work fine on a smaller canvas but on such a large one i get a problem. What could be done if the canvas is really really big. thanx

Make a small patch of stars and then make it bigger, then manually touch up the pixellation.
