Description
RIGHT CLICK TO LOOPA little swordplay animation... Rotoscoping is fun... Yep.
Right now, it's only in its most crude form - I was going to make it longer, but I thought this was an appropriate place to end it. I hope to make this into a proper animation of Jayli some day. Y'know, properly drawn with colour and a background... *sighs wistfully* Oh well...
~6 hours. 65 frames rotoscoped. Drawn in Adobe PhotoShop 7.0, tested in Microsoft GIF Animator, presented in Flash. 20.

Haha, yes :b The character is supposed to be female, but I don't have the boobs drawn in the other frames :b

Yeah, it's very artistic, which is what drew me to rotoscope it :3 I just haven't gotten around to actually doing anything with the rotoscoping...

so natural, so fluid, like a drawing of a real-swordsman's play instead of an animated drawing!!
great job!!

Thank you very much! The fluidity is almost entirely due to the rotoscoping technique.

and what would that be

It's basically tracing movement. Y'know motion capture, using computers? It's like the oldschool version of that, but without using computers.

It's time consuming, but the way I think of it, it's LESS time consuming than doing it completely freehand X3

Rotoscoping is the key, then

faestudioarte In reply to jocarra [2008-01-30 05:40:05 +0000 UTC]
yeah!
So you just drew frames in Photoshop and then make the video?
I'm interested to know the technique, right now in college I'm taking an animation grade.

amrassyndjinn In reply to jocarra [2008-01-05 11:57:04 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, neat *nods* I do a little bit of poi, which has similar motions in some places, but I've never learned any swordsmanship. This was rotoscoped from a martial arts video.
