A rare and random encounter, as chipmunks are very wary little animals. This one was a very young mother...The snow had just melted down, the soil was kind of "dirty".

We went from kind of shabby to looking like a Christmas card.

The melting snow is far more dirty in town, it is becoming black. Due to the chemical products they put on the streets.

Well, there's that, and all the exhaust from the traffic. I was out on the lake about a week ago, the day after the snowfall...some of the snow already had tinges of beige on it...no salt or sand trucks around, but the dust kicked up from the dry dirt covered paved roads, and exhaust had already started to turn it ugly.
I've already shoveled and sweeped all the stuff on the road in front of my house...every time the bus goes past there is a huge cloud that follows it...just gross.
