Description When a friend of ours wanted to have a character created, I came up with a Wolverine-inspired little guy called Bobcat, but since he'd been called "Bobcat" as a kid and hated the name, we made him a villain.

Smaller. He's a dwarf, with extraordinary speed and reflexes.

Of course, Wolverine is just a rip-off of the original Atom, with claws and a Canadian accent, eh.

LOL. I forgot that Wolverine grew up in Canada.

They never can seem to get his accent right in the cartoons or movies. Especially in the first X-Men movie, I could hear Jackman suppressing his Aussie accent, but not a hint of a Canadian accent. It's like when I watch House, I can see and hear Hugh Laurie suppressing his English accent. He even affects a slight lisp, sometimes, to hide it. I've watched so much British TV and movies, that I have a really good ear for accents.

I did see the first two x-men movies and i get what you're saying.the thing that bothers me about comic book movies is the whole origins of the characters be off a little bit.

Yeah, when he was created, I wanted to do my own Wolverine. My original design had claws on the gloves, like this, and was sleeveless. I updated to a hand-held claw in a more recent drawing. I think it would make a much more effective weapon.

cool.i know not all heroes and villains have to be big and brawn, but you can't teach style and swagger.

Yeah, one of the things I hated in the 90s was how all the new artists seemed to think they had to draw every character with body-builder on super-steroids bodies. One of things I noticed about Ryan Reynolds in the GL movie was how much he resembled the early Gil Kane Hal Jordan. Fit, but not massive. A gymnast's build, or swimmer's, more than a weight lifter. When a guy is over 6 feet tall and has a 22-inch neck, a 50-inch chest and a 26-inch waist, a suit and tie don't make him look like a regular office worker.
I try not to draw characters with improbable builds. It's easier for me to keep them straight and it's easier to "move" the figure.

you have a great point.most of the superheroes were physically beyond standards, whether he was under or over 6 feet tall.if a hero didn't have the physique, people didn't care how good of a hero you may be.

If you go back and read old comics, you can see that they drew them to look like normal, athletic men, but not like body builders, who pack on relatively useless muscle mass.
Early Justice League stories, with Mike Sekowsky art, all the men in the JLA are normal build, even Batman and Superman. Through the 60s and 70s, even Thor as more like a large football player, than a weight lifter.

My main thing is, I think different characters should be different heights, eights, etc.

Also, there should be more bald guys, since there are so many of us.

i couldn't agree more with the heroes. haven't read a lot of old comics, but i can understand the most known heroes were meant to be larger than life.
