Description
The pencils were done, for this, back in 1985/86 at a convention in Dallas. Kerry Gammill was the first artist who ever drew one of my characters. I inked it, once before, on a vellum overlay, with technical pens. I finally dug up an old hi-res scan of it, and decided to have another go at it.Related content

Thanks. This version was definitely inspired by Man of Steel, the comic, not the movie. Byrne made big chest emblems cool, again, and big, billowy capes. Though, Starlin had made this kind of cape cool, with Adam Warlock.

Thanks. This would be the 3rd or 4th Ultiman character that I did. It started with the blocky U insignia.

He is one of the best. Super-nice guy. I showed him some art once, and then a few years later, some more, and looking at the second batch, he looked up and said, "I've seen your stuff, before, haven't I?" That stunned me. That he recognized something, after only seeing a few pieces, one time...wow.
