Simple comp test.
Added comment, 10/29/2013 - Well maybe not so simple, actually took awhile to create. It was done in Maya software with Michael Comet' muscle system (AKA mayaMuscle.) I modeled the Skeleton, then the outer skin. I tried several muscle plugins - and mostly failed - I had to simplify the original version because I made to many muscles and my computer couldn't handle it. So I ended up using cMuscle with just these general massive shapes that work under the skin to jiggle and slide under the skin. I did the rigging, cause that's just another thing I do. I created a bunch of walk/run cycles to learn and test out how to improve the rig/skin.
Well there ya go - A T.rex! I'm glad I did it.
Added comment 10/30/13 I thought I could read/reply to all the comments people made, very very nice! Thanks, I will keep trying...Now it's gone up to 31 pages though.
Please don't be mad if I missed you
It was made with Maya software you can have a free version of the rig here >>> joel3d.com/TrexSkeletonRig.htm⦠<<< skeleton only
11/01/13 THANK YOU for all the comments! I can't keep up, I hope you understand.

I feel like the arms are a bit too stiff or symmetrical... But the whole animation is still amazing!

yeah I agree, I didn't think really about them - I now feel they should face inward, and also hug the chest - thanks

No problem! This is still the best dino animation rig I've ever seen (even considering professional movies); the only reason I noticed the arms is because the rest of the body is just SO damn dynamic and fluid! If they remake Jurassic Park you should totally be on the art team (as much of a tragedy a remake would be...). As a sci-fi lover, I also appreciate the biological accuracy. You are talented! I'd like to see your take on an adolescent T-rex if just to see how you would handle the child-like jerkiness and awkwardness youngsters tend to have. Keep up the good work!

And thus, we see proof that T-rex was both a mighty hunter and a clever scavenger.

are you training in this Maya software independently or are you training somewhere?Β I would love to learn how to do this.Β I'm a traditional painter for almost 10 years so I'd love to take what I create in a painting world and animate it.Β If you have any advice or where to start I would greatly appreciate it

I get asked that alot - I was called autodidact - but I don't have the patience.
if you think you may want to learn, there are a ton of tutorials online, and great freeware like Blender.org
