Description Another experiment with the Licorne 18th century corvette in Carrara 8.5 Pro.  This time I wanted to add some action and play with the volumetric cloud settings.

Very nice ! But in case you're interested in being more realistic, you should check out some naval archives to get an idea about how you sail a ship in a battle.
Keeping the main sails set is not possible for instance, as it obtures the vision and makes them vulnerable. If possible I think the best fighting trim is to be under topsails alone.

Thanks for the tips,
I know nothing about sailing, since I'm landlocked in Arizona.
I am finding that I need to learn a lot if I am going to keep making images in this style

You're welcome !
If you like reading and are attracted to old sailing beauties, you would love to read Patrick O'Brian series of books (the Aubrey-Maturin series, from which the excellent movie Master and Commander is inspired) !
It's very well written, witty, great fun, and the author is unbelievably knowledgeable in everything he writes about. Especially ships and manoeuvers ! As if he were there in the flesh for every single action
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work, and cheers from a harbour in South of France!
