Description
Another quick experiment with JGreenlees's "Colored and Broken Glass Iray Shaders" in DAZ Studio and Iray. This time I tried to set collision between the hands and the glass. I also tried an ice texture on the glass.
- Fairy Wings for Giselle 6
- Colored and Broken Glass Iray Shaders
- Edit Hair for Genesis 3 Female(s)
- Wild Spirit for Genesis 3 Female(s)
- N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution

That's a great effect with the ice texture. Love it!

Thank you, I was concerned the effect was too much, but without it she looked like she was just standing there with her hands up

Thank you, I just applied a texture to the glass material on the plane

Thank you, I had to try out the collision option, I didn't know that it was possible in DAZ studio or what the results would be. It's subtle, but seems to help. Thought I couldn't seem to get it to work on her cheek

Welcome!
It is possible, but I did have a problem once when I collided GF2 with ropes. Her fingernails screwed up and remained so even after I removed the collision.

Thank you, I didn't know you could set collision in DAZ Studio until chrisryder123 told me how to do it

What figure did you set for collision?

It's a GF3 figure, I haven't tried it yet on other figures yet
Here is a copy of chrisryder123's instructions:
Select the G3F, then go to Edit, Figure, Geometry, Apply Smoothing Modifer.
Then in the parameters settings on the G3F, set the collision object to your pane of glass.

I gathered that much, but I was wondering to have no you activated the collision... 6?

Ok thanks, so how do you reckon it would look ok if you put collision against a sword hilt? Or a rifle?

That's a good question, collision was such a subtle effect on this piece. I hadn't thought about those uses, but it seems like they would be the real practical reasons to use collision.

Thank you, The collision effect may be too subtle, but I at least I know it can be done now

Looks good. Love how it has a certain DOF effect to it.

Thank you, I had to add a little more texture to the glass surface because it looked a little too much like just a DOF effect without it

Well, you can definitely see the hard surface here.

Just bump up the number of collisions in the parameters menu, but also be aware of the impact this can have on your RAM. Find a fine balance between the number of collisions and smoothing your rig can handle.
