Birthday present RosaZaira , who created a beautiful fanart of and made an awesome gift for me on my birthday ^ ___ ^ I hope you like it, sweetheart, and please forgive the horrendous mistakes I made
Remember when Petunia was so mean to her sister Lily, right before she left for her first year at Hogwarts? Me neither. But I came across the scene in DH and wanted to illustrate it for Rosa. While Petunia is jealously trying to make her sister feel awful for being different, a "freak" going off to a school for witches and wizards, Lily knows that Petunia desperately wanted to go as well. So instead of feeling insulted and hurt, Lily has a sympathetic insight to her sister, most likely thanks to her nosy friend Snape.
This is the scene where they discover a letter from Dumbledore in Petunia's room, in which the Headmaster gently refused Petunia's pleas to go to Hogwarts with her sister. Snape spies the letter from Hogwarts buried in Petunia's clutter, just before a startled Lily admonishes him for poking around in her sister's things.

paper constellation
As landfill martyrs
burnt and buried
like Thames bridges
left in the undertow:
Dragged substrata
in pressure mines
of war and famine
before the Ministry
Inkwell crematoria
kingdoms of rust.
In Bbrother we trust,
adrift on Airstrip1.
