Description
Last of a series to help get acquainted with Photoshop. The final one was done in CS3. This is not my favorite - the crop is bad and the figure should be better; probably send it to scraps soon enough.NOW I'll read the tutorials. Bass ackward as usual

You know, I love this. Which seems odd, because I somewhat personally dislike the color red (and don't much personally like the bright bold primary colors.) But great design, and beautiful painting, gets me every, every time! Keep it up! :claps:

I hate everything that associates Severus Snape and death, but you really outdone yourself with this series. I just love them!!!

Looks like the outline of a figure is forming in the background, I bet it would be cool to have a hint of facial features, and maybe some of the red (in like a mist form) representing a hand caressing his face. When all else fails RTFM...

Yes I like the hand idea very much - I seem to be able to sketch straight on the tablet faces only @ this point tho, I've tried hands. When I gets me a scanner this should improve hopefully

Since I don't have a tablet sketching things never works out very well for me on the first try... the Smudge tool is very much my friend, sometimes I'll also use a larger brush than I need and erase the extra to get the line/shape the way i want it.

joeyv7 In reply to KristianS [2008-04-19 18:48:25 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I've been using the eraser as much as the pencil & pen. Smudge is weird how it delays on mine, but I guess that's just the way it's going to be. I'm not buying any more RAM & I at least know how to delete big graphic files I no longer need . . . .

KristianS In reply to joeyv7 [2008-04-19 22:40:21 +0000 UTC]
If the delay is really bad you can use a smaller brush... mine has a terrible lag if I use anything large (like a few hundred pixels).

huh - interesting observation, thank you very much. Wouldn't it be great to find out how did the opalescent eyes in -
[link]
that would be a great effect to learn. (When you said mother of pearl it made me think of the opal eyes in this work)

I believe she did a color layer and duplicated it in an additional layer to give it that glow.

I wasn't being snarky I meant "additional" as in the name of the type of layer that lightens the picture
π: 0 β©: 1
joeyv7 In reply to Embittered-Passions [2008-04-16 14:21:25 +0000 UTC]
. . .? I did not detect any snarky This PS is so multi - faceted somebody can say a word like 'type of layer that lightens the pic' and
I'll think oh, so I can do THAT, too
Like with 's DrJ / Mr H ~~ Mr. Hyde has something similar over his pupil, it doesn't opalesce, but I can see how one would do that from talking to you & seeing her work . . . whereas before, it was a complete MYSTERY to me. I may even get stuff totally wrong, but at least I'm actively thinking about how stuff is done, which makes it less of a mystery and more possible for me to do.

it's all cool, yeah now knowing the basics of layering and brushes my mind can actually tell what effects an artist used to draw a certain piece. it's like I'm yoda using my the force

A fascinating addition to the series. His expression is indeed extremely peaceful.
I would say though, that my fav remains "red 2"
anyway, I eagerly await the next!!

thanks - that smudge tool was neato - I'd make some strokes and a little clock would appear, and I could see the effect in slow motion. Does your smudge tool delay like that? I think I'm done w/ this series for now though
