Description Small watercolor paintings based on screencaps from the Doctor Who episode 42 (Series 3, episode 7).

Hey look, it's another underated episode I really like! It's mainly because of the vibrant colors of the setting, but also because I love the fact that Ten gets really arrogant and annoying (I mean, he's constantly yelling orders at everyone - seriously, who died and put him in charge?), then ends up incapacitated and it's Martha who saves everyone left in the end.

- This scene is completely silent- and it's wonderful.
- "BURN WITH ME."
- Now that's a beautiful death scene.

I loved the intensity of this episode, especially since it was in real-time. I also ADORE the aspect of a living sun; the fact that there are some things that defy what humans define as alive. I also believe this is one of the few times we see the Doctor truly afraid.

Yes! The living sun was great. Now that I've read a few DW books, I've also found a book where there's beings that mimic entire planets and put their offsprings into suns to let them incubate. That was great as well.
Also Ten is definitely at his best when he's out of his comfort zone.

I like this episode. It reminded me of a movie called Sunshine.

I just don't get reviewers who said it sucked.

This wasn't my favorite episode in Season Three (that would be the Human Nature two-parter, thank you kindly) but you've made several good points and it's an episode I won't skip when I rewatch the series as I prepare for the release of Capaldi's run. The scenery and atmosphere is wonderful, and the guest characters are great too. I also liked the fact Martha got to save the day.

It's not my favorite either, but I think I like it as much as Gridlock, which is also an underated Season 3 episode. And that silent scene between Martha in the escape pod and the Doctor trying to tell her he's going to save her is one of the most powerful scenes of the whole season in my humble opinion.

I loved Gridlock, I honestly did. It was much better than its predecessor (which frankly, I only could stand for the Harry Potter references) and a far cry better than its successor.

And yes, the scene with the escape pod was beautiful. I think my favorite moment in the season, however, has to be that of John Smith imagining the life ahead of him in the episode Family of Blood. I was not emotionally stable during that scene.

My favorite moment of that season is the end of Utopia, actually. I was literally on the edge of my seat the first time I saw it, not to mention the fact that I went completely nuts when I realised the professor had a fobwatch (I grabbed my boyfriend and yelled "HE'S GOT A FOBWATCH LOOK, LOOK OH MY GOD WHAT" and he went almost as nuts as me - "wait what OH SHIT A TIMELORD HE'S A Fβ–ˆCKING TIMELORD WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON" xD).

It's also a great cliffhanger and I'm a sucker for cliffhangers.

Another favorite moment of mine is when we find out that Jack is the Face of Boe, at the end of Last of the Time Lords. Especially since Jack is one of my favorite characters. And I freaked out when I saw the professor had a fobwatch too. I stared at the screen with my hand over my mouth and it stayed there until the end of the episode. But like I've said, I was pretty disappointed with the rest of that three-parter.

And yeah. I'm a big sucker for cliffhangers as well. Just not when a season ends with a cliffhanger. Namely, the ending to the first season of Orphan Black. (It's just cruel.) Great TV show too, by the way, if you want to watch it.

I haven't watched Orphan Black yet.

There's several great cliffhangers in Big Finish Doctor Who, too ; the most spine-chilling one is probably the one at the end of the third episode of The Chimes of Midnight ("I was wrong to think we could escape the house - instead, we've taken the house with us.") ; the most absurd one I've heard so far is probably the one at the end of the first episode of Memory Lane (with Eight trying to catch his breath and saying to Charley that "The TARDIS... has been stolen... by an ice-cream man??") ; and the most jaw-dropping one is the one at the very end of Neverland (and it's a huge spoiler, so yeah, I won't quote it).

And the price for the funniest one goes to the second part of Doctor Who and the Pirates (or: the Lass that lost a Sailor). Basically, Six and Evelyn are trying to cheer someone up with a convoluted pirate story full of clichΓ©s, then Evelyn points out that the story is still pretty dark since someone dies in it, and Six decides to turn it into a musical. There's a musical cue, Evelyn sighs "Oh no. You are going to sing." and it cuts to the end credits. I have never hit the "NEXT TRACK" button on my mp3 player faster than I did. xD
And it was glorious. youtu.be/00T_ft5RCdc

Those sound great! I wish I could listen to them.

The cliffhangers in Orphan Black are pretty cruel though, all ten episodes of the first season. I think the kindest one is maybe in Episode Five, said by a character called Paul (They don't tell us why) and the worst ones are huge spoilers, so I won't say anything because you absolutely much watch the show.
