Description
This piece was created using oil paints on canvas. Size: 60cm x 90cm. This was a commissioned piece where I had to copy the Elephant Mojo pencil and produce in oil paints with the metal on the tusks to be gold.Related content

This is amazing! Splendid work on the skin. It looks incredibly difficult and intricate.

Awesomeness! I can't tell if I like the colored or the pencil version better...they both have their own charm. Too difficult to choose!
Do you paint in the white background too, or is that the canvas?

Thanks for the comment. The background is painted white using a pallette knife to smear it on a bit thick.

Yep, happy with how it turned out. Will be working on the Walrus Mojo next as a painting.

Thanks, and I agree there is still nothing like being able to see the effort in the brush strokes and feel the texture of an original traditional painting.

What a beautiful elephant! The skin texture is very realistic.

Thanks, it was actually easier to do it in oils than in pencil.

Thanks, wasn't quite sure how the picture (as the original is a detailed pencil) was going to turn out in oils, but very happy with the finished piece. Thinking of trying the Walrus Mojo one next.
