Finally got my act together and uploaded this on dA. Had some trouble getting a viral version, so I ended out making my own preloader, hope the sponsor's alright with that, lol. As long as he's getting visits, right.

If you want to try a cool feature, press O during gameplay which will open options, then enable Rotation Mode and go back to playing, and see how the camera rotates with the player. Pretty cool.

So I'm going to tell you guys the cheats for this game:

Nice game!

What program did you use to make this?

This is awesome. It's like the original grand theft auto + twisted metal.
You've made my list of people to stalk.
Where did you get your music from?

Hey thanks for the watch and the fav! And for the compliments. I first realized the game was like GTA a few weeks into development, pretty funny.

I got it from from a musician called Waterflame (facebook , youtube , newgrounds ) its one of his already finished songs "-Toxic sewers-", so I paid him a % of my sponsorship amount to use it. For my next game Color Tanks (which i'm releasing soon..) I commissioned some custom music from him. Great to work with.

It's really great, I just really suck at games like this

Thank you. Haha, that's alright. I'm not usually very good with driving games either, hehe. (Except this one of course, since I made it.)

Thanks!

Heh yeah, does look like it XD I discovered that like in the middle of development, like "Hey, this looks a lot like the first GTA games!" I was actually intending to have it be like them, with big cities, and missions, but it just got too big for me, and I just made it simple levels and simple task - kill all enemies. =/ Heh.

A race feature would've been nice, I should make a racing game sometime. D:

Incredible talent here. I have to ask, did you use any physics engines or 3D engines for this? It runs very smoothly and you pick up the gameplay fast, overall a great game! It's hard to criticize when it looks better than most of what I could make.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you! No libraries here, I hand coded most of this, except for the A* implementation. 3D is rendered by a mix of graphics.drawTriangles(), PerspectiveProjection class, and Utils3D.projectVectors. It started by that I found some simple rendered 3D boxes code on wonderfl.net, and then I changed it around and in the end it made it into the game. Everything is rendered onto a bitmap which explains why the game runs smoothly, and there's a zoom variable which sort of creates that 3D zoom, which modifies the buildings' scale, so it seems 3D the way it zooms out. And then I sort the buildings by which is closest to the middle of the screen, an alternate approach, I know..but it works. xD

You seem pretty capable yourself, I'm sure you'd be able to pull something like this/better off. Also, I remember playing Space Maze a bit back, cool game.

Good stuff! I've never quite got my head around 3D terribly well, especially rendering all the triangles, but I've had some good attempts with particles instead. I can see how much work is really behind this, most people don't understand how much polishing, time and planning it can take to make a game like this. Thanks for explaining how you did the 3D, I can hopefully use a similar technique for some of my other unfinished 3D games.

I'm working on a big new game too actually, using a tile based system similar to this it looks like. My game is in 2D, but there's tonnes of features and interesting levels. I've been working on it for 4-5 months now, but it should be out in the next month or so, I'll keep you updated. It would be nice to have another programmer's perspective on that.

Keep up the good work.

Yeah, it's good to have other programmers looking at your games to have some people to understand what kind of work actually go behind these games.

Sounds interesting. Would you mind sending me a note with a link to a current build, so I can have a look? You could upload it to deviantART's sta.sh it's really useful for uploading unfinished builds, I upload builds of my projects at least every 10 days there It's private of course, and you can share a specific submission by using the link, people won't be able to browse your other sta.sh submissions. (And as a premium member you get 10 GB of space )

I actually suggest that you put it up for sponsorship on FGL.com instead of immediately releasing it after you're done, depending on the quality of your game, you might be able to earn some thousand dollars by getting a website's logo briefly in the beginning of the game, and a "more games" button in it. I was a bit unlucky and got their branding in-game as you see in Corrupt Cop, hopefully I'll avoid that next time, lol. I got $1,150 for Corrupt Cop, but considering it was my first sponsored game, it's pretty low compared to what other games go for. The site works by that you upload your game, and then the admins of the site review your game, and give it a rating, and then they send out emails to sponsors (websites like Kongregate, ArmorGames, Miniclip, BubbleBox, etc.) and if they're interested in your game, they'll place a bid. As you wait, more and more sponsors will bid on your game, and when you feel satisfied with your current bid, you'll pick it and the sponsor who placed it wins. Each bid comes with special conditions the sponsor fills out himself, so let's say you have a $2000 bid where the sponsor wants your source code and to own your idea, and a $1500 one where he gives you more freedom, you could pick the $1500 one, so you're not required to pick the highest, ultimately it's up to you. And you might ask, what's in it for the sponsor? More views for his website. What's in it for you? Money for your hard work. It's win/win.

It may sound cheap "selling your game", but you can still retain the rights to it, and it's a good alternative to "having a real job" for me at least.

Yes, us programmers have our own ways of thinking. Most people are usually pretty alienated if you show them a piece of code.

Not used sta.sh before but I'll check it out.

Getting money from game making is great, it's enjoyable and rewarding, although I can't say I've made very smart business decisions lately! It's awesome that you managed to get so much for your game though, keep it up.
