Description
The eternal war between elves and orcs rages on! I tried to paint them, but only one of the combatants agreed to stand still. This is something that I wanted to enter into "Good vs. Evil", but I completely lost track of time. I have my own war in my head between lighting and detail. This image may change in the near future.
EDIT:
This is as far as I plan to go for now. I knocked back the background surrounding the enchanter figure, and have her presence almost subsume the chaos of battle around her. Any further critiques are greatly appreciated.
Thank you and for your helpful feedback!

I think Roz has summed up the gist of what feels "missing" but I wanted to point out to me not only does the faceless knight need some more detailing on his armor but I struggled at first to decypher what the dark mass on the far left was. I think the horse and possibly even the lance need just a few more details to make it more obvious what it is you are seeing. The use of orange flames just around the sorceress really helps draw the eyes to your focus with their pop of color, so if you do add more fire I'd suggest limiting it to close to her and keeping it still somewhat subtle. This has a very surreal feel and the muted, almost monotone scheme really works well. Right now she exudes calm and serenity in the midst of carnage.. too much fire could loose that. I think it is a beautiful piece and you have captured the feel of a massive battle with really very few figures, which is quite impressive. It's close to perfect but those last few details will take it from a great piece to a stunning one I think.

Ok I've been looking at this and wondering a few things. I think I saw it going in a different direction - you started off with some awesome detailing that promised more, but then it faded a bit and you stopped. I know the incomplete/sketchy look is your style, but I think just a tiny bit more detailing would really 'finish' the piece.
The dark knight in the front - I like how he is faceless, but maybe if his armor was a bit more detailed, so you can see the rigidness of it as well as the scarring and dents that a battle worn knight would have.
Same thing with the ogres on the right - maybe more detailing in their hair or even the deep set lines of their foreheads would give them more character, more emotion.
Everything else - the smoldering corpses and the background battle is - that is just perfect. Your sorceress is your focus, what about a little more fire coming from her. Not just from her hands, but that she IS the fire that is wiping out the bad guys.
Ultimately, and honestly, it doesn't look finished. However, your vision and style is breathtaking, no matter what stage you're at in the game. Your message isn't lost, but I do think it can be intensified. Hope that helps =x

The new details look fantastic John. Though now the task will be to "redefine" the area surrounding the elf so she regains her dominance in the frame. I know you said you are coming back to it, just thought I would let you know what I see so far
It really is a stunningly beautiful artwork, I feel like such a fangirl but everytime you draw something new I am all "this one is amazing" and kick myself for not making more time to draw and paint. I have decided to live vicariously through others for now

Wow, Tamealia, I think we're on the same page! I plan on deepening the area around the main figure so that she pops more, and also adding some color to her "aura" so that she isn't just a white hole in the picture. And frankly, the mist and background on the left looks a bit blunt and choppy after developing the right side.
As far as living vicariously, I had about a ten year stint when I lost track of art and didn't produce anything. You'll rock the universe with your productivity when you're good and ready!
Thank you for your critique and your compliment!
