Description Big Idea is beginning to officially unveil the redesigned characters for VeggieTales in the House on their Facebook page so I figured that now was as good as time as any to begin uploading my drawings that I've done related to the revamp.

First up is Bob & Larry who to me are two of the few characters in which I have very little to no problems with their redesigns. The reason being because that I see nothing to drastic or different about them and they simply come across as the same characters but with some minor updates.

A funny fact about Bob is that EliOli Ceballos (the twin sisters who redesigned the characters and grew up watching the series) aren't that fond of the image of Bob that I used for my drawing. They believe that he has a half-sleepy look but I believe that it suits him just fine.

This image was originally drawn a few days after my friend discovered the first image of the redesigned characters in their fully rendered forms .

bob and larry don't look too bad…Petunia looks nice…the others freak me out. Laura and madame blueberry…ungh…they look pretty bad.of all the promotional pics of them, why'd they have to pic those!

Bob, Larry, and Petunia's (who now reminds me a bit of Lindsay from Total Drama) are the only ones I truly like. The gourds are alright as long as they keep their mouths closed.

They both look terrifying upon first glance in their promo pics. My mother thought that they both had bags under their eyes before telling her that they were their eyelids. Kinda makes me dread what Archie and the French Peas (in my opinion the worst of the bunch) look like in their promotional pics.

I haven't really seen Archie in his final form. but I already hate his design…he's way to thin and his head and nose are too big. His bow tie looks like it's cutting off the circulation to his head.


Mr. Lunt is the only one that looks normal ^^ happy with his design.


French peas…OMG…They look SO BAD!!!


I totally thought they had bags under their eyes too!

Yeah, there really wasn't all that much about Mr. Lunt that you could change so his design is another that I have no real problem with.

They don't even really look like the French Peas anymore with Jean Claude's unibrow and Phillipe's design is without a doubt the most drastic compared to what he's looked like before!

Bob & Larry honestly don't look that bad, I've seen the rest of the redesigned core characters and it really varies in terms of how a majority of them look.

I believe the only changes they did on these two is the eyes and the eyebrows.
That's what's really freaking everybody out.

Those are the only changes for these two, but to me I don't really mind as there was very little with Bob & Larry that you could change appearance wise.

They look very nice. Although, I'm not into those Veggie Tales redesigns so I will not draw this redesign style for my comics and refused to get used to it. That's why I prefered old design for comics.

I'll still pretty much be doing the characters in the preferred old style as well, but I decided to do them for the new designs at least once to get them over with.

If I draw Veggie Tales redesign style, I would make humans from Anime style to cartoonish Clever Belover-like style.

I'm still not certain if these designs are exclusive to the Netflix series or if they'll also be used in future videos. Like I said, it's even worse than when the Looney Tunes characters were redesigned for The Looney Tunes Show.

They'll still be continuing to do the original direct to DVD series, but the redesigns will be making their way to those as well.

Unfortunately all signs point to the redesigns being here to stay. A few days ago me and came across the covers for two new books for next year that have the characters in their redesigned forms.

I'm not sure if you've been as up to date on the redesigns as I have, but most of the characters have been changed drastically. Bob, Larry, and Petunia's designs are the only ones that I truly like from the core cast for the new series.

I like Petunia's, Junior's a mixed bag, and I'm not fond of Laura or Madame Blueberry's.

I think they look good.
Although I'm kinda confused by some of the designs for 3 specific characters. Petunia looks like she's a teenager in this and Junior and Laura look younger than how they are in canon VeggieTales.

I actually like Petunia's new design. She also kinda reminds me a bit of Lindsay now.

Junior looks as if he drank three cups of coffee and the official image that they released for Laura today makes her look terrifying upon first glance!
