I have recently started painting nerf guns (here is my first attempt on a maverick, please don't be too harsh: [link] )
I got some inspiration from your guns and also some others. Now I have to say I adore your ME Stampede in red. I am actually planning on painting m next gun, a Vigilon, along the same lines and wanted to know how you got such a bright red. I saw you write about it being automotive color. Could you maybe specify that a bit more please (also base coats and cover)? That would be really awesome. Thank you!

This is great! I'm gonna try and paint my first nerf gun for a cosplay. I actually want it to be a stampede, or rather need it to be, for the certain cosplay.
Do you have any tips? Most especially on taking this thing apart, because that makes me really nervous.
MarcWF sent me here for more tips. I already found a pretty good tutorial on the drybrushing to make it look worn in areas. Sounds like something I just need to practice first.
Do you have any other special tips for a first-timer? Thanks a bunch!

haha, I'm glad you're going to give it a try, I'm sure it will come out great! I would, in addition to agreeing with what you already said, say that you want to make sure to sand down the entire body of the gun, especially the spots that would most likely get friction with arms, the ground, etc.. that helps the paint grab hold better. Aside from that, just have fun with it and I'd love to see the results!

Its a nerf Stampede and I used red automotive paint over basic black primer. The rest of the detail is done with many brushes

Yeah, the in-game models and concept art show the guns pretty worn and weathered. This N7 Stampede looks a lot better than your older ones.

It's been interesting to see the evolution of your Red N-7 Stampede over time. They're all the same concept done just a little differently, a little better, every time. I think you really nailed it on the chrome with this one, it really does show, especially on the muzzle and near the trigger. Great job adding new awesome to an old favorite.
