Was talking with =Wasil the other day about spam musubi when in a fit of hunger-inspired creativity I said, "Now I gots to draw me a Spam Musume!"

This was about 3 weeks ago, but I've finally managed to pull together enough time to create this unholy fusion.

Oh yeah, so this character. This character's name is Spicy Yam - first name Spicy, last name Yam. It would have been more appropriate if she were a Yam Musume, but this is what she wanted to be and she's not going to change her family name based on her career choice. That might have been what her yam-planting ancestors did, but that was a different era and she is not like that.

So Spicy Yam is a Spam Musume, which is a Spam-themed musume that uh...I did not think this one through very much. But all you need to know is that she is all about the spam. Also, her e-mails have difficulty getting through filters.

Designing Spicy was very difficult, in part because I soon realized that the form of spam is not a very distinctive one: it is a pink oblong rectangle with rounded corners. To slap pink slices of spam all over her body would be just dumb (and kinky!), so I tried putting some more emphasis on the "musubi" part of "spam musubi" - hence all the riceballs.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, it felt kind of forced and uninspired, but on the other hand it turned out better than I thought it would have. Oh well.
