I'm not sure what exactly inspired me to draw this kind of pokemon. I guess it had something to do with a forum topic I saw that day in which one should post a pokemon that would fit him/her the most.
After all, the theme(rivaling artists) kind of applies to me too. I often have times when I really, really admire other artists around me and hate not being as great as them. I don't like that part of myself, because it's stressful, but it's who I am.

Since basing a pokemon around myself doesn't make a good fakemon concept, I looked around a bit. Notably Van Gogh, as his name also was fitting to incorporate cock(the word for rooster, nothing else ).
According to Wikipedia, he had a good relationship with Gauguin for a time but they started quarreling eventually and Van Gogh feared Gauguin would abandon him(he admired him).
The typing came with the design that was the base for everything, but is still very fitting for the concept. Fire can symbolize conflict as it happens between rivals and Flying seems fitting to me because rivalry implies wanting to be the best or, more metaphorically speaking, wanting to touch the sky.
