Oh for Christ's sake, anyone who doesn't know the ending to this movie hasn't watched any of the original trilogy. If they're honestly surprised by now that's their fault.

Ya know what!? Putting (Rogue One Spoilers!) in the title doesn't mean Squat! It's the last fucking thing you read after the comic. I expected better from you.

So... all the good guys in Rogue One die?
Ye-ah. That'll sell toys.
"Coming in time for Christmas! Rogue One! A thrilling Star Wars story where the good guys die!"
2016 just keeps getting weirder.

Looking4Work In reply to Ernest-Smart [2016-12-17 07:23:06 +0000 UTC]
No, I remember the line.
I just figured there would be some survivors; 'many' doesn't necessarily mean, 'everybody.' It's very rare for a movie to have all the heroes killed. (Even The Dirty DozenΒ had survivors, and they were 12 convicts on a suicide mission.)
Pyrrhic victories make for lousy movies.
Star Wars films make their fortune on repeat viewers and merchandise sales. Kill off all the good guys, and that's going to hurt both.
The promotion of the movie made me think we'd get a new hero (a Rebel spy) in the setting of the original trilogy, (like the expanded universe stories). And that she might be the central character for more stories with an already rich set of characters and locations.
While I still want to see it, I'm in no rush now.

yeah because Rey, Fin, and Po aren't continuing their adventures against the First Order. Also that kid doesn't look 13.Β Why are you bringing a fucking 9 year old to a PG 13 movie? Irresponsible parenting.

The same thing has happened to me at leastΒ twice:
Avatar: (not as in "The Last Airbender", I mean the James Cameron movie with Sigourney Weaver) A five-year-old (if that)Β wasΒ sitting right behind me, would NOT shut up and BOTH cried and talked for the whole movie!
And then, when I went to see the third Expendables movie (I decided to catch an afternoon showing, like 1:00 or so, I figured there wouldn't be a crowd) a couple brought their infant children, STROLLERS AND ALL, into the theater with them and they sat right in the front row!
Who the @#%* does that!?!

My father saw the latest Rambo movie in the theaters, and some older guy brought his two grandsons with him. They were like six.
I saw it later at home and nearly threw up when I saw bodies being viscerally blown apart; I can't imagine what it did to those kids D:

when I saw Rogue One at a fucking 9 PM showing walking out there was this little like 7/8 year old kid and I was like "wow great parenting choices guys" XD
I mean if you have the judgement to decide your kid is mature enough to handle that content whatever, but the rating exists for a reason people.

I don't think people ever read titles anymore. They no longer show up in searches, and they're not placed above the drawing (where they really should be). I did however, read the description first so I saved myselfΒ from spoilers lol. Thanks for trying anyway. (I'll be back in a week or so).

Looking4Work In reply to VR-Hyoumaru [2016-12-17 01:24:46 +0000 UTC]
Well, knew it could happen.
Holiday movies are usually feel-good films that people want to see again. And S-F movies give us heroes and villains in big scenarios, where they come back to fight in a sequel. (Blame George Lucas, back in '77, whenΒ Darth Vader survived without a scratch at the end of "Star Wars.")
A downer ending may make it a good story, but will it bring people back to the theaters? And more importantly - will it sell action figures?Β
I haven't seen it yet. I was really hoping we'd get new characters for stories taking place at the same time as the original trilogy. Guess not.

Yup, seems about right. Whatever hope we have, it rests on the backs of who was sacrificed.
Though to be fair, it's refreshing to see they weren't kept alive, or got into dopey situations, because it would have made a neat toy.

I am still struggling with what to call this kind of in-between story. Ever since GTA Liberty City Stories, actually. Borderlands called the "before what we already know happens" game the Pre-Sequel. But I have the feeling it should have a more technical feeling term, like "interquel" or "metaquel" ore something from that direction
