Such an epic game indeed, Rogue Squadron was good but never came close to this!

JRL5 In reply to toslayadragon [2009-07-27 06:56:08 +0000 UTC]

Rogue Squadronw as a different kind of game. Still good, but nothing beats TIE Fighter. Lucasarts should make a remake of THAT along with their recent Monkey Island remake.

X-Wing and Tie Fighter are argueably the best Star Wars games every released on the PC Platform. I have been begging, praying, whining for a new Star Wars combat flight simulator done on the same level as these two classics with today's graphics and audio capabilities... but I think LucasArts took a crap or went on permanent vacation... T_T

JMereel [2009-05-04 14:00:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you're right. The TIE is just a cardboard box with guns.

Anyone else remember (and dread) defending Vice Admiral Thrawn in TIE bombers?

THAT was bad.

Still, a least you got to fly TIE Avengers and Defenders.

Oh, I remember. I still have Nightmares about that Escort Mission. Esp as no-one in their right mind wants any harm to our beloved Thrawn!

Glad too see that I'm not the only one who still has a huge amount of respect for him.

At least he was a true soldier, unlike some of the other ba****ds in the Empire.

RIP Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Which novel is that.
It;s hopefully set before his death and not some stupid clone, back from the dead idea.

I was just talking to my dad one or two days ago about how we used to play that. I honestly wish I knew where in my house it is.. I got it in a combo package with TIE Fighter, X-wing, and X-wing vs. TIE Fighter Flight School (actually an add-on to X-wing I believe). TIE Fighter was by far my favorite; though X-wing really shined with its classic campaign mission where you assault the first Death Star. But I digress. Awesome comic, and very truthful/humorous. I have to show my dad.

I always questioned the leadership skills of the foppish Imperial officers. They weren't really good at their jobs, were they.

As someone who's played computer games since the stone ages, I can wholeheartedly say that Tie Fighter is one of the finest games that has been, and ever will be made. It has a level of epic win, that no other game does.

Very funny, to be honest i think Lucas is trying to drain as much as he can out of Star Wars by creating random new games, perspectives, continuations and sub plots. When does he ever run out of ideas.

KitDreamer [2008-09-14 19:23:28 +0000 UTC]

What saddens me the most, is not that the games these days have never been as good as that... It's not that the starwars license is basically being beaten senseless until it's far beyond the dead horse stage..

... It's that even though I can get both Tie Fighter and X-wing to run on my PC, I cannot physically play them because I get motionsickness...

.... ;.: I MISS THESE GAMES!!
