There's one thing I hated from the collector's edition of X-wing and Tie fighter, and that was the remarkably retarded AI. It's as if the digitalized soundtrack took too much space so they had to remove half the brain of every rebel pilot, resulting on amazingly retarded Y-cows Sslllllllllleewwwwing down your your nostrils while you try to shoot them down, the bastards.
Real men play original Tie Fighter.

Lol. You should try the pencil and paper SAGA Star Wars RPG, the books cost at least +$10 more than anything else with their unbelievably low page-count. I think WOTC and Lucas are trying to kill the P& gaming industry.

I especially liked the part in the game where you had to frantically tell your wingmates not to blow up the Emperor's shuttle which had just been hijacked with the Emperor still in it.

dunno, the few previews they've released look badass. the only downside I see is that the duel mode is only avaiable on the Wii and the handhelds. luckily though, i have a wii.

ahhh the good ol' days!
it was pretty much the only game where ya got to be an imperial no less! (till the strategy games anyways)
i LOVED that game.
X-Wing and the lot sucked by comparison...
love the little comic, its pretty dead on for the experience as i recall it
they should remake the old Xwing and Tie Fighter games and combine them into one or just redo it all from scratch.
my copies long gone :/ got some of the worst scratches a disc could ever get... twas a sad sad day...
did find my floppy disc copy of X-Wing though... and the cd's for X-Wing Alliance... sucks that i don't have a floppy drive anymore and Alliance crashes like theres no tommorow.

Agreed. Having played through X-Wing Alliance before, an upgraded engine of that would be suitable; as well as a decent team of artists too. Go to XWAUpgrade for quality comparison, especially if you still have your old copy of X-Wing Alliance. The downloads are definitely worth it.
The TIE Fighter series needs to be re-born in this era of "Recycle our old culture because it was actually good back then". And that is a good idea. Let's re-release the classic X-Wing and TIE Fighter games as a bundle pack.
It's a pain in the ass trying to do certain maneuvers with a keyboard. But my controllers are just too damn advanced for the games to register through DOSbox or otherwise.
On that note, are there any game controller emulators out there that CAN do that? You know, downgrade for older games/systems, but keep the elite stick/gamepad. Because, I have a buttload of old games that would be perfect for. Repeating myself, flying via keyboard sucks.
And yes, the comic captured it perfectly. The game was better than XWA. You got to work for the Empire.

SWEET! never knew bout that project!
i've seen others, but almost all of'em dead and nothing released :/
now where did i throw those discs...
strangely enough my flightstick pro is detected and works with XWA (before it crashes) though it doesn't like most games :/
like X3, the throttle controls aren't correct and end up binded to the slider on the side of my throttle instead of the throttle itself :/

Actually, I was talking about the joystick not working for the classic X-Wing and the Classic TIE Fighter game.
Oh, and I just remembered as well. I think someone that worked with XWAUpgrade completed, or at least has been working on a TIE Fighter conversion mod for the game. Using the XWA engine to play classic TIE Fighter.
I just gotta remember the link. Maybe Darksaber has it.
(A moment later)
BING! BING! BING!
He DOES have it, or at least a link to it.
Gentlemen, BEHOLD!!: TIE Fighter Total Conversion
You can thank me for finding it for you guys, but credit those who actually put effort into making it. They freaking rock.

wow... now THATS awesome.
i like the fact they also include the requirement to have the original game listed there. IMHO thats how a proper fan "remake" should be. I don't advocate the usual piracy. though in this instance or that of a game thats no longer on the market (as with almost ANYTHING from the days when Lucasfarts made good games) its kinda hard to do :/ but say it was like Quake 2 on a new engine (ala The now dead Lost Marine mod) it doesn't make sense to remake the game when its still for sale (sold with Quake 4 collectors, and on STEAM) good idea, bad execution :/ its what got the awesome Generations mod killed i loved the concept of that one. original wolfenstein, Doom and Quake remastered on a new game engine, with mixed up multiplayer.
it was interesting to see BJ go at it against the Doom marine both using weapons from their individual games, on a Quake map.
though i don't think lucasfarts cares for remakes of their games as long as its in other games they made. the Dark Forces Mod was going along smoothly and even watched by Lucasfarts before it died...
