No, Russia is going to get the US mad. The US is like the Hulk, if you get it mad, it becomes an unstoppable juggernaut of doom. The CIA has been working overtime to keep throwing wrenches into Russian industrial and resource extraction efforts, the Muller Investigation is going into full swing and Trump can't stop giving it attention (and thus worsening the chances that the GOP retains the seats it needs to ensure that an Impeachment is impossible), the US IC is probably having their Best Men(TM) going through the warehouses full of contingency plans just in case the worst-case scenario comes to pass, and the GOP and those related to it (i.e. the NRA and the like) are getting hit with a lot of scandals and being under Muller's crosshairs.
The only thing I can see for certain is that Russia is going to be essentially the Real Life version of Zaftra from Front Mission, literally locked out from the rest of the planet's economy, industry, and technology. That is unless some idiot decides to go all Genocide Man-verse Idealist and tries to exterminate Russians via biological warfare...

Actually most of your former states hate your fucking guts and they -oddly enough like Asians- have a very deep grudge for that. Poland remembers what your nation has done to them (ethnic and cultural cleansing after the 2nd Partition anyone?), the Baltics for the most part hate your fucking guts, and with the latest coming from the IC you've antagonized everyone, including China -even if indirectly. You have almost no chance to have a Warsaw Pact 2.0 here.

Hatred and direct interest is nothing to compare. No one actually have any interest in Baltics, i have more population in my city district than baltic countries combined. Same with frightening industrial and military might of great Poland. As for Asians, they don't have grudges, but interests.

Because Trump is actively, currently, dealing damage on a variety of fronts.
Talking about Hillary is even less relevant than "Thanks Obama" jokes at this stage, since bitching about what she might have done is purely hypothetical, rather than dealing with our current lived reality.
Worse in fact, because Trumplings will use her as a deflecting tactic to divert attention from the shitty things their candidate is currently doing.
That's the difference mate.

I disagree. I'm not sure what kind of "damage" you're referring to, but I would imagine you are being led to believe this given the undue level of bias and scrutiny lain his way courtesy of the media, on top of some gross exaggerations by the irrational and obsessed. Couple with that whatever echo chamber you yourself may or may not be a part of, and the "Fuck Trump" band wagon, and there ya go. You seem to take it for granted that Trump is either 1) Hitler incarnate and has fulfilled the role of some cartoon esque villain, bent on ruining our lives and bringing about chaos, or 2) A bumbling idiot whose negligence is undermining the integrity of the country. The truth is far removed from this, however.
On top of facing overwhelming resistance to his leadership in Presiding over the country as well as being smeared at every turn, we have this Russian collusion bullshit that has no hard evidence to prove any dirty dealings or malfeasance has actually occurred. CNN even admitted behind closed doors in leaked footage, if that can be believed, that the sensation was good for ratings and that every development was advantageous to media coverage because of said ratings as the people waited with bated breath for the results. I would imagine the DNC and Mueller are doing this to cast doubt as to the legitimacy of his Presidency, but the fact remains that he won fair and square.
I honestly fail to see how his current administration has caused any more damage than, say, Bush or Obama in recent years.
Considerably less, considering the fact that both pushed for disadvantageous proxy wars that accomplished little in benefiting America, apart from the sizable Military Industrial complex. Bush got us into Iraq shortly after Afghanistan, Obama pushed for the destabilization of Libya (which currently has revived the slave trade) and tried doing the same with Syria, not to mention his disadvantageous and very damaging drone campaign that led to thousands of civilian deaths for a few hundred terrorists, and arming "moderate rebels", much of the ordinance winding up in the hands of ISIS insurgents still active today. Add to that that neither were fiscally concerned and saw to the squandering of millions upon billions of tax dollars (Trillions over the span of their respective terms, Obama nearly tripling the international debt). Yeah, I'm glad that Trumps my president, and not some shill from the DNC that is more concerned with raising taxes and destabilizing the country further.
I can only say I'm glad we didn't get Hillary Clinton as a President in so far her conduct after losing was very telling about her attitude. There's something very wrong about a grown woman who's 60-70 years old blaming everyone else for her own failings instead of taking responsibility and accepting the fact she lost, but hey. At least we have Trump and not some psychopath like Hillary in office. =o Do you mean to tell me you actually like Hillary? x3
You're free to rationalize and explain away and dismiss these observations as you probably will, but I am very much aware and vested in our "current lived reality", unlike some people on DA and elsewhere. I am reminded, however, that Trump derangement syndrome is a real phenomena.

Oh I see, you're deluded as shit.
Yeah I don't think I'll be bothering to smash my head into a wall rebutting your position, because I'm tired of dealing with this kind of shit, and it's tough to debate someone in good faith when they're so clearly staring off from a bullshit position.
I will say though, in my skim reading I noticed the hilarious double-standard, talking about Hilary deflecting her own failings onto other people, as if that hasn't been the Donald's number one move whenever something doesn't go his way.
Goodbye.

Well considering that the NRA heavily supports Trump, and that dumbass isn't really doing much in regards to what happened in Florida, may be you SHOULD give a shit about the NRA.
Also, I just "love" how you immediately took the "Trump is a Russian double agent" hyper defensive road to try and deny the fact that Trump and his people had absolutely "no connections" with Russia. But if you're really that desperate for evidence that Trump-Dump's got something going on with Putin, how about the fact that he shared highly classified information concerning the Islamic State with a Russian foreign minister and ambassador on May 10, 2017.
This same information been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government. Said partner had NOT given the U.S. permission to share the material with Russia, and yet the "so-called" president basically endangered the cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State.
Kinda hard to defeat ISIS (which he claimed that he would do as president), when you're stupidly spilling the beans on highly classified info, don't you think?

To be fair, with the US and NATO constantly encroaching upon them: undermining their allies (Syria, Iran, Ukraine (under the former administration) etc...), building bases closer to their borders, waging economic and diplomatic warfare against them for years on end, etc... it's no surprise to see a de facto one party system emerge as a form of immune system response to the disease of American imperialism.

I'd be more sympathetic if Russia didn't keep invading it's neighbors and stealing land whenever said neighbor tries to leave Russia's influence and team up with NATO or the EU. In the invasions of Georgia and Ukraine.
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
Maxres-Default In reply to stormelemental13 [2018-03-11 12:40:15 +0000 UTC]
I'd be more critical if they weren't up against the US and NATO who attack countries that try to leave the US Dollar (Libya), wage fruitless wars (Iraq) fund and support revolutionaries and rebels in Russian allies (formerly the Ukraine, Syria), embargo their allies (Iran) and maintain the NATO alliance even though the Warsaw Pact has broken apart and there's virtually no threat to Western Europe anymore.
Georgia wasn't innocent in that conflict. You accuse Russia of invading to keep them in their sphere of influence, but South Ossetia was trying to leave Georgia's sphere of influence which began the conflict in the first place. Your accusation is literally the opposite of what was going on.
The Donbass region is an area contested by rebels who didn't support the coup. Again, you are accusing Russia of belligerence against those leaving it's sphere of influence when in actual fact the conflict is between the Ukraine and the separatists trying to leave Kiev's sphere of influence.
Regarding Crimea, you are correct. However, losing the Sevastopol naval base was an existential threat to Russia and its ability to project power in the Black Sea. This isn't a case of empire building, it's a case of national survival. If Guam elected a radical anti-US government and declared independence, would you expect America to just leave without contest or would it want its bases and strategic position back?
