Description
And the naysayers wonder why I don't listen to them....You shouldn't either! If you feel in your gut that it's the right course of action; it usually is.
(.....unless your gut tells you to "go play in traffic". Cuz your gut's not telling you the right course of action, there. It's trying to kill you.)
Wonder where I'd be right now if I'd listened to those teachers and focused on learning all those important skills that I've never found a use for in the real world?
I'm guessing; Data Entry.
Followed by suicide......

Let's see... art is in advertising, live action movies, animation (obviously), advertizing, package design, building proposals, signage, sports.... The list just goes on! But let them keep being ignorant of how greatly they are affected by the input of the eyes. Their ignorance gives us (read "our bosses" lol) that much more power over them!

this sounds a lot like my childhood. I remember one time i was trying to show some art to a friend and his response was literally " when are you going to stop doing this shit?"

I take it people seem to miss the fact that we have CARTOONS on television? Seriously, know what you're talking about before you say it. That's the problem with folks nowadays...or maybe that's always been the problem.

But all the whiel one should not be afraid to experiment or to recognise where something can be improved.
For example my art teacher told me straight out to stop using black and white for my lighting and shadows, because in reality light is the colour of its source and theres also temperature, surface specularity, ambient occlusion, etc and I feel my work has improved all the more for it.

Mr. Jackson, an author by the name of Ray Bradbury spoke at a commencement at a university here, and was quoted as follows:
"Tonight, you can call up all those people who said that you would never make it, and tell them all to go to hell!" I think perhaps any successful artist has thought that way at one time or another!

Funny that.... everyone told me the same thing growing up.... and now i'm a self employed artist who can pay his bills and live on his art sales as well...
guess some people just can't stand to see other people striving to be successful and happy at something the love to do. kinda sad when you think about it...

There's also a Scotsman in my colon...he has to put up with the demon's shit on a daily basis.
