Description And the naysayers wonder why I don't listen to them....

You shouldn't either! If you feel in your gut that it's the right course of action; it usually is.

(.....unless your gut tells you to "go play in traffic". Cuz your gut's not telling you the right course of action, there. It's trying to kill you.)

Wonder where I'd be right now if I'd listened to those teachers and focused on learning all those important skills that I've never found a use for in the real world?

I'm guessing; Data Entry.

Followed by suicide......

same endgame here, mate. same endgame... However, I probably would castrate myself using a rabid wolverine before I blow my brains out tarantino-style, all on the ceiling, and at my college library's computer lobby at that...

NOT KIDDING, PMJ.

At least I think I'm not kidding...

"You will never amount to anything much." - Math teacher in 19th century Germany to a ten year old named Albert Einstein.

Umm, bear this scenario in mind - Al didn't formulate a great many of the equations he supposedly created - he took credit from his wife, and said he formed them; think of the female gender view issues of the time:

1) women were viewed as inferior to men (rather misogynistic if you ask me)
2) women had no say on educated or political matters (again, something misogynistic)
3) women were viewed as unintelligent (again...)
4) women were like a piece of furniture, just there for visual appeal (this part really chaps me...)

so, really, he didn't amount to anything truly legitimate...

Jus' Sayin'.

P.M.J. got somewhere with his talents at least. Now he's a personality worth admiring because of his art at best!!

CONGRATS PHIL!!!!

Lessee... his first wife, who may or may not have collaborated with him in his 1905 papers, failed here college examinations while Einstein passed his; and they divorced in 1919, after which Einstein continued to write breakthrough papers in physics. There is no indication that his second wife knew much at all about mathematics or physics.

Such an interesting idea. Pity about it being male bovine eliminatory product, though.

My friend, women in 1905 to 1925 were not even allowed to apply in order to go to college at that time. The credit still went to Al b/c he was from a rather well-to-do family, and he had an extremely intelligent first wife - she was, unfortunately, a victim of the gender views of that bygone era.

FYI: "male bovine eliminatory product" it definitely isn't - I had to do a thesis paper on Einstein for my advanced physics class. It turns out that more than 80% of the material "he created" actually did come from his first wife.

Now the second wife... well, she wasn't a quite a genius in mathematics and/or physics but she had a more than average idea of how things worked.

So tell me: Where do you get your information on Einstein? I obtained mine from one of a few of the heavily acclaimed libraries of Science and Technology here in the southeast region of the USA; it's not a joke either. I had the opportunity to visit it by way of a college trip. It is directly from there, during a whole week and a half stay at a motel, that I managed to make my thesis.

Don't dismiss this.

Odd, then, that he met her in college.

Equally odd that Marie Curie was recognized in her own right at about the same time.

In any case, anything he did after 1919 would have been without her.

The argument holds water a little better than a basket does, but not much.

BLAZR-SAN In reply to SamBlob [2012-11-13 01:02:36 +0000 UTC]

She was at his college, but she wasn't actually enrolled - I (and the other peers who I collaborated with on this research) found out that she would converse with the collegiate minds of that community (teacher, summa and magna), and found that Einstein had great success potential, but was so disorganised in his life and especially his mind. His results were solid ONLY because she helped him every step of the way to organize his semi-missorted thoughts and to help him form "his" equations. So, in many ways, she was a great asset in an immense bulk of his work. Because of that fact alone, she deserves and gets a VAST sum, if not all, of the credit for the advances in science, physics and technology that Einstein published and took credit for.

The only reason he went on after 1919 was thanks to the very woman that aided his mental-to-applicative organisational skills. she gave him strategies to keep his stuff coherant

the argument holds water, with additional room for more.
