Airship maps and harpies are an evil, EVIL mix...

Story behind this one:

Upon returning from Spinner's Folly, the Blessed Blades, sadly, ceased to exist. Ara the cleric was summoned back to her convent, and Natalia the fighter went along with her friend to keep her company on the road, then went on to follow her own quests and adventures (IRL - their players withdrew due to lack of time).

Angela and Betheniel, the Moon Elf cleric who's long been watching over her, remained, still intent on joining the grand tournament, soon approaching.

Fortunately the wizard Zacharias, the party's sponsor, managed to introduce two new members, an Moon Elf entertainer Bard named Velatha, and a quirky Harengon wizard, Tobias.

The selection of participating parties was approaching rapidly though, so the newly re-formed and still unnamed party was immediately sent off on another quest to prove their worth and secure a place in the upcoming tournament.

The task was rather straightforward - to clear out a lair of Hobgoblins who've been threatening local routes. Since the location was a fair distance away from Waterdeep, Zacharias arranged for an airship to take the party there.

The journey over the clouds left Angela in awe. Even though she's spent a month sailing on a pirate ship (a story for another time), this was a whole new experience. She asked the crew all manner of questions regarding the ship and watched the fluffy clouds passing by beneath them with shining eyes.

They joyful experience was violently interrupted, however, when a small flock of harpies descended upon the ship, with one snagging Tobias. The diminutive Harengon was thankfully able to blast the creature's head off at point blank range, but another one managed to charm Angie with its song... luring the young adventurer to the edge of the deck...

Failed saving throw.

And another...

The girl's foot already raised to take a final step into the void. One turn away from the end of all her hopes and dreams and her quest to save her father...

Velatha *just* managed to beat off another Harpy off her back, noticed the danger the young Fighter was in and ran towards her. Unable to make it all the way to the forepeak of the ship where Angie now stood, she put all hope into a Sleep spell on the Harpy.

After this momentous roll, one way or another, someone would fall several thousand feet to their death.

It wasn't Angie.

The freckled fighter snapped out of the trance in mid-step and immediately collapsed back onto the deck, her heart pounding in terror.

That was far too close.
