Description As I posted two comics back, I am REALLY psyched that Mega Man's in the new Super Smash Bros. game, and I also love the updated, more robotic design they gave him to boot. So to show tribute to my favourite game series of all time, I decided to draw my favourite set of robot masters of all time... in the new Smash Bros design!

I always loved the original six, and Time Man and Oil Man were both really good additions! While the other Robot Masters were awesome, I always loved how these Robot Masters were unique in their simplicity. So let's go down the line of why I favour this set the most, while talking about each Robot Master:

Cut Man - Cut Man puts "simple" in "simpleton." No matter what media he's in, cartoon, comics, or even the games, he always seemed to put the pieces together in the wrong slots, and was usually the butt of every joke. And for that, I found him very endearing in his goofiness, especially in Megamix/Gigamix.
Also he's rather simple to draw: just use Mega Man's body and add a different head!

Guts Man - Ahh, the original tough guy. Guts Man definitely fits the bill of being the giant left-hand goon, from the giant body frame to the fact that he throws boulders roughly his size. That, and he WAS the last Robot Master you re-fought before going onto Dr. Wily in the first game.
I love drawing him, and I especially love the personalities given to him, be it the dumb-yet-strong bully from the Ruby-Spears cartoon to the all-hardworking no-nonsense foreman from Powered Up.

Ice Man - He is freaking adorable. And really fun to draw!
Shame that he gets the short end of the stick in terms of personalities. If he's not cocky, then he's... schizophrenic? Honestly I imagined him more like a loyal cub scout than a soldier. I do enjoy using Ice Slasher though!

Bomb Man - I already talked about Bomb Man in this pic , but I'll say it again: his abstract look and inverted colourscheme is very unique! I rather enjoy him and he's fun to draw! Also, his party-centric personality is very fitting!

Fire Man - I. LOVE. Fire Man. A lot.
Back when I was little, I remembered seeing him in Mega Man Soccer and in the cartoon, and I LOVED how he looked. The torch helmet's awesome, the colourscheme is simple, but eye-popping, and I love the dual-flamethrowers! He also had the best weapon in the games he was in, plus his hot-headed crazy personality from Powered Up always cracked me up! Fire Man's my all time favourite, no contest!

Elec Man - As a kid, I always loved the superhero/Power Ranger pose Elec Man always did at the start of the battle, it never failed to make me grin. Back then I was used to beating him easily due to how he was in Dr. Wily's Revenge (I played that before the first NES game) and how he easily got knocked down in the cartoon, but nowadays I think it's fitting that he's the leader of the group, seeing as electricity is the greatest power generator for all life, humankind or robots.

Time Man - Time Man is a very neat addition to the cast. I like his design, although the clock sort of floating in place rather than being embedded like Gravity Man's gravity dial was a bit jarring, and I always enjoyed his rude, perfectionist personality. While I'm not too crazy about Time Slow, his clock hands attack is pretty cool.
He was pretty easy to draw, and really fun to draw in expressions.

Oil Man - Oil Man... he's definitely ripe for controversy, what with the black-face sort of design he was given in Japan. Despite that, I rather like him. While I haven't played much of Powered Up, Oil Slider seems like a pretty fun weapon to play around.
Instead of giving him the Mega Buster-shaped arm cannon, I opted to give him more along the lines of a gas pump. I'm still not sure about how to draw a nicer mouth except maybe a duck bill, so I decided to just go with drawing the top part of the lip.

With all that said, I hope you all enjoy this!

My favorite to least favorite robot master in Megaman 1/ Megaman Powered Up:
Cut ManΒ > Elec ManΒ > Fire ManΒ > Guts ManΒ > Time ManΒ > Oil ManΒ > Bomb ManΒ > Ice Man.
(I don't hate Ice Man, I just don't find him that interesting)

Time man is my favorite Robot Master x3Β because in truth, I am a perfectionist sometimes and am always well aware of the time and I hate to be late at the appointed time from somewhere or someone arriving late and then wait for that person 8P

Not gonna lie, I friggin' loved Powered Up! The gameplay was fun, the stages were the right amount of challenging, the fact you can play as more than just Mega Man was awesome, and I liked Time Man and Oil Man! The only downside to the game was that it never had a Nintendo 3DS port and stayed on the PSP instead. (Not a big fan of the PSP. )

Ahh, these are really nice! Though I am still not very familiar with the characters, they all have such distinctive personalities in each of them. (I particularly like Bomb Man, he has a very Bowser Junior/kids' look about him: "I'm about to hurl this bomb in your face, and I'm going to enjoy it!")

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy them!

Hehehe, yeah. Bomb Man is definitely a party-centric blast-happy bomber.

Haha, oh those look sweet. Gotta love the original eight... well, Robot Masters 03-10, but technicalities.
But no matter how much I look at them, I can help but grin at TimeMan's disapproving face.

Thanks! Β Yeah, the original 8 robot masters definitely have the most unique charm among the rest!

Hehee! Couldn't resist giving Time Man that disapproving face. Every time I found a cutscene where someone fights him, he always give them that glare mentioning they're late or that he doesn't care about them being early.
