Description
I've not been on DA for quite some time, although I've still been working every now and then on some new projects. The latest of which is the Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It's come a long way so far and the end is in sight.
I plan on making a mold of the shield and making replicas from it which I will be selling. So closer to the time I will be taking pre-orders.
I've also been documenting this build in my blog, www.jonsprojects.co.uk
As I've been documenting this quite I well I plan on making an Instructable similar to the Master Sword once I'm done.
So keep your eyes peeled and I'll hopefully have a finished shield for you all to look at soon.

Looking good! I'm also working on one for myself, but it's not turning out the way I'd like, but it may get better if I'm patient with it. xD

I've just taken a look, clay isn't a good idea as you've found out.
If you're looking to keep off the harder stuff like fiberglass and car body filler you might be better off using papier mache.
If you're looking to use car body filler etc bare in mind that it will become very heavy.

Yeah, I think I may use papier mache. It would be much lighter. The last batch of clay I used made the shield weigh 9 pounds. My arm would give out within the first 15 minutes of a convention knowing my luck.

Is it curved one way or does it have that... dome-ish shape to it?

It's curved on the front, and flat on the back where I will be mounting a handle and arm strap.

Hopefully I won't disappoint.
I think I might have met you a couple of years ago at one of the MCM Expos, I was carrying around my Master Sword

indeed you did! I think I was cosplaying Princess Zelda or Midna at the time, and I recognised that sword a mile off, it was so great to see it in the flesh! It really is the most beautiful copy of the matersword I've ever seen, so Im very excited to see the matching shield! I just know its going to be stunning
