Description Been a long time coming, but here's an update to my Master Sword. Still got quite a few things to do before I can begin the paint job.
I've been taking pictures along the whole process, so I'll put together a tutorial when I'm done.

Still to do:
- Some more detail around the hilt
- The handle
- Then handle end cap
- Sharpen the blade (leaving this till last so I can't damage it before the paint job).
- Sanding then primer
- Sanding then primer
- Sanding then primer
- Sanding then paint

Comments and critque are more than welcome.

Do you make weapons for people on commission?

I haven't yet had any commissions. If I were to take one on it would depend on what it was, the complexity and my timetable.

If you'd like something done, send me a note and we can discuss it.

Quick question: did you used woodfiller to do a small amount of the detail near the hilt? I think I remember you saying something about clay but I can't find anything (so this may be the product of my deluded imagination)

whether I imagined it or not the question stands: how did you do it?

JonsProjects In reply to eugenidesofattolia [2009-06-19 11:52:56 +0000 UTC]

The zig zag contours on the left and right are where I just use a Dremel tool to cut into the wood.
The diamond in the middle is made from a seperate piece I cut, filed and sander into shape and stuck down, as are the raised pieces.
The other gold line details is made from string, glue down and then wooder filler over the top and then sanded down.

A picture speaks a thousand words, so here ya go:

Thanks.
I might be bringing it to the MCM on Sat so you may even get to see it.
Not sure if I'll have time to do the sheath in time aswell.

The sheath as well would be awesome, but if you don't manage it i'm sure i'll just have to live with seeing the sword

ok i've been starring at this for like hours, and i still can't figure out how to make one...i need to make it for a convention.

is the hilt, handle and blade all separate and like glued together or not?

or did you carve the whole thing out of a pine twoXfour

AHHH, i need to find a guide for this

Woooooowwww! Great detail with the guard (I guess it is still one) and the Triforce symbol. I agree with Gin-Kusanagi though, if you've put this much effort into everything else, the hiltwrapping has to be accurate as well.

Gin-Kusanagi [2009-03-21 19:11:34 +0000 UTC]

The grip is better, I guess; looks about the right size to hold for a one-handed sword. But you're still gonna need to find something thick to wrap it with to match the texture from the game.

JonsProjects In reply to Gin-Kusanagi [2009-03-24 09:52:56 +0000 UTC]

I got an idea as to what I need to do for the handle. Just need to check hobbycraft to see if I can find anything suitable.

amazing detail, what wood is it made of?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JonsProjects In reply to NightSnake [2009-03-24 09:52:18 +0000 UTC]

It's made mainly with pine.
But some of the detail is made from basswood.
